She deserved no falloff on her projectiles, and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t very consequential overall. There’s just no way she’s better than Sigma and Ram lol.
They didn’t initially have them, they were added with the changes to spread. Specifically because they’re shotguns, they were made stronger at close range in exchange for falloff. So pick your poison, do you want to be potent at close range or suffer falloff?
i don’t think she is that powerful tbh, zarya melts orisa down pretty quickly, too
both when i am zarya i melt their orisa and when i am the orisa i get melted by their zarya
Players are just dumb. Too many players have not realized that the situation versus Orisa has changed. Numerous tanks have had buffs which strengthen their match-up against her. Orisa honestly had a HUGE nerf awhile back during the armor + fortify situation no longer stacking for really high damage reduction. It now caps out at 50%.
Several tanks have had buffs to themselves which inherently close the gap between tanks.
JQ has had a narrowing of spread and stronger bleed.
Winston cleaves armor now completely.
Ramattra is heavily buffed on projectile damage, more damage, and more armor.
Roadhog is in a much better state.
Mauga’s been released.
Players just hate Orisa without actually realizing how good she actually is or not.
If orisa of all hero’s didn’t deserve fall off damage than get rid of hogs and dooms.
The buffs are a very nothing change its really funny how people that get annoyed by Orisa think she HAD to be OP just because they, the protagonist of the universe, were personally annoyed by the horse.
Fall-off removal is mostly a buff against specific heroes like hitscans and snipers. Which we need, actually.
Zarya still counters her, dive tanks can still ignore her, nothing has changed aside a bit more damage at massive long ranges.
Stop acting like any competent orisa player with a brain gets countered by Zarya. Literally just don’t give her charge than bully her when she’s out of bubbles. Zarya only counters players who have no idea what they’re doing
Just because one tank has a counter its no excuse to make tanking more about counterswapping by buffing the horse that counters Rein, Doom, Magua, Hog.
It gatekeeps other tanks out of matches because
Someone’s getting tank diffed by a Rein they swap to Orisa the Rein player then swaps to Zarya.
Im fine roles countering tanks the tank playerbase is way smaller and will never win out in a cry off but we must be able to tell the fraction of tank players that like Orisa to suck it up get nerfed into the bin.
On equal skill and equal support from a team, Zarya will demolish a Orisa, or pressure her to the point she has to play defensively.
If not, I see Monkey and DF flat out ignore her and dive their backline, forcing her to follow them around and letting their team free reign to basically kill anyone.
And this is what I see in masters/GM games.
And that is before her DPS counterpicks that just about every tank can enable into melting the horse. Which are rarer I guess, since most of the DPS playerbase those days is mentally incapable of picking something that isnt Soldier or Sojourn.

This entire game has always been about adapting your hero pick to what is needed. Any hero that bypasses and ignores counterpicking it is overpowered and/or poorly designed.
I’m sorry but if an orisa getting pressured by a Zarya than that tank is trash or his team is trash or both. Zarya literally has the easiest counter play in game. Don’t shoot her dam bubbles. Easy as that. I struggle to believe GM players struggle to do that one thing. Also orisa gatekeeps every single tank except for like Winston and DVA. Mauga use to bully her but they nerfed his whole interaction against her because the devs can’t stand when Orisa has more than 1 bad matchup while most tanks have plenty of bad matchups.
Its that Orisa relies too much on countering to be a healthy tank. So just leave her in the bin.

This is not what is fun in overwatch. Nobody wants to be forced too often to swap to win. The balance on being force to swap vs being able to pick what you want is struck on every role better than on tank. That’s expected tanks are the smallest playerbase we don’t get our way. But if its another tank contributing to the issue who cares but tank players. Get Orisa in the bin and leave her there

Hog and Doom have shotguns. Orisa does not. They are two different weapon types. You should not be using a shotgun at range. What, so you can poke Widows with your shotgun? Because that’s largely what Orisa’s change is for.
Okay but it’s fair for a tank who is supposed to be a close range brawl tank that’s immune to critical damage, headshots and all cc while also having her own cc and 50% damage reduction to duel snipers? And win? Nice joke
What about her kit makes her close range like Hog is besides the knockback and movespeed on Javelin Spin? That doesn’t mean it can be used exclusively close range. Why shouldn’t she be able to poke snipers? I poke snipers as Lifeweaver all the time. They deserve to be vulnerable to poke, and next to no tank has the poke needed to reach snipers.
What makes orisa a close range tank? Huh? Ever heard of fortify? You know the thing that gives her 50% damage reduction and immunity to all cc? You think they’d give that sort of power to a long range tank? Why would a long range tank need immunity to cc and 50% damage reduction if they’re not gonna be in the enemy’s face or close enough to get value out of it? Hog isn’t as survivable as orisa. Sure he has 40% damage reduction that heals him but he can’t do anything else while using it making him vulnerable. Orisa pops 50% damage reduction and damage while using her own cc. Oh yeah and orisa has armor.
Ever heard of fortify?
None of what you described is limited to close range. You can fortify and receive benefit from it against a soldier shooting you 20 meters away. You can use fortify and be immune to the sleep dart launched at you from across the map. Hog and Orisa fulfill very different roles as tanks, so I’m not even sure why you brought it up in the first place, but asking for falloff to be removed on a shotgun (a type of weapon designed to sacrifice range for damage) just because Orisa’s completely different weapon type got its falloff removed is silly. You’re acting like hog is languishing in the pits of F tier with Hammond.
