Option to report bad matches?

It would be kind of nice if we had the option to report when the matchmaker makes a truly horrible decision and lines up a really bad uneven game.

Maybe the people who work on the game could use this data to help fix the system.

This is a great idea, but in reality we all know what is wrong with matchmaker and the devs are ignoring our screaming efforts for a change.

“I lost, bad match.” The only bad matches are the ones with throwers, or steamroll games. Or I guess toxic players

Nah, there are matches that are just ridiculously unbalanced and awful. It might help determine what causes them.

Do you think players will say “bad match” to the system if they easily won it?

Do… you really trust that the playerbase will objectively be able to determine what is a poor matchup and not either falsely blame it on teammates or spam “poor matchup” reports when they were just having a bad day?

I mean, sure, but statistically most of that will cancel out.

And blaming it on teammates kind of is a ‘bad match’. It generally means a player has allies that are not at their equivalent level, which is bad.

Pretty much this.

I’m not saying the system is perfect. We’ve all had those games. But players will just report any loss and never report wins, regardless of if it really was a one sided stomp.

Like, we already know there’s been a problem with false reports in game since pretty much launch, and there’s now a problem with false flagging here on the forums. I don’t think it’s a good idea to give the players more of an opportunity to just abuse power.

How do you figure?

Not necessarily. It’s the player assuming they are not the equivalent level as their teammates. Often times, they are at equal skill and making the same mistakes, they just don’t want to admit it.

This is why you get people saying the matchmaker is rigged against them, because they’re where they belong and surrounded by similar players, they just don’t want to admit they’re anything lower than the best.

Like… a “[R]ate the match”?

That could be neat.

Just report everyone for gameplay sabotage when your team gets completely steamrolled. I wish there was a “good” way, but unfortunately it’s your only option hence it’s your best option.

The problem is that sometimes people play in ways the matchmaker won’t expect and cannot because people are unpredictable.

Maybe your dps were in the zone that day, and popped to an insane degree they will not be able to duplicate.

Maybe your tank has a head cold and makes dumb decision after dumb decision because he can’t think.

Maybe your support’s has to afk for like a minute because she got girlfriend aggro. And when she comes back, you’ve lost the point.

I’m not saying matchmaker couldn’t be better. I just wonder how effective a flag by players can really be.

Considering they used to have a feature like this and the only information they got from it was people rate the match a 3 when they win anf they rate it a 1 when they lose, I doubt it will

They tried this with the old rating system. Turns out, the majority of low rated games were when they lost, and high rated when they won.

Oh yeah, I’d forgotten about that 1-3 system. That was pretty pointless.

Yep, that is why it was removed

That would be a 7 out of 10 games.

There used to be a “rate this match,” but Blizz removed it since everyone ranked lost games as low, and wins as high.

abuse of such tool would reach to horizon lunar colony and monkeys could escape via rope

I mean, it would be a great idea if people wouldn’t inevitably abuse it. Just look at how flagging has been abused on the forums instead of being used for its intended purpose.

Instead of doing the right thing, people would report things as “bad matches” for silly reasons like having a 1 trick on their team, having someone refuse to swap, or even just getting matched with someone they think is lesser like a girl or kid or someone they are prejudiced against. There would be all kinds of trash reports to weed through.

Considering how much the “community reporting” feature is abused with false reports, I would not see this option being any less vulnerable to immature exploitation either to reach some childish ends.
