Option to disable sway of Ashe's gun while ADSing

I’d really like this to be a thing. I don’t have any particular problems aiming with Widow or Ana, but I find Ashe’s gun exceptionally hard to aim with. The way the reticle visually moves around in her sights throws me off pretty hard sometimes. I typically miss shots around the same distance from my target, from both sides, meaning that I’m consistently trying to shoot where the scope says the bullet should go.

Blizzard, please provide an option to disable the sway of Ashe’s gun while aiming down sights.

So you want them to add an easy mode option?

I dont play Ashe but this is what it sounds like.

Kind of, but not really. It’s a matter of function being compromised by adherence to form. The aesthetic of her gun is given priority over the function of aiming down its sights, and this creates artificial difficulty in aiming with her. It wouldn’t look as good without the gun swaying but it would feel immeasurably better to shoot.

I main hitscan. I play Tracer, Widow, Soldier, McCree, Sombra, and Ashe when on DPS; I play Ana, Zen, and Baptiste when on support; I play Hammond when on tank. None of these heroes give me any particular problems while aiming, but Ashe is something else entirely. All I want is for the principles of aiming with other hitscan heroes to apply 1:1 to her.

Aim assist was recently applied to her dynamite on console, and that was a godsend. It made shooting dynamite out of the air easier by far, and it feels really good now.

maybe instead of taking the sway from ashe they should add it to the other snipers

if you even look at crosshair (not reticle) you’re doing it wrong, your aim should be at reflex lvl, subconscious. If a reticle is a problem for you, well…

Please, no.

I completely agree with you. That’s actually why I use a small, red dot for every hero, since it doesn’t distract me like a lime green one does. I’ve also trained without a reticle, and actually found that my aim improved afterward. I want to be looking at my target, not at a brightly colored dot or + in the middle of my screen.

My issue is that, while I mostly don’t notice my reticle with other hitscan, the sway of Ashe’s holographic sight makes my red dot appear to be moving on my screen, thereby distracting me. If the gun didn’t sway while ADSing, this wouldn’t be a problem. Since implementing an option to disable the sway wouldn’t constitute a buff or even take much effort to implement, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be added.

You gotta get use to play ashe more, Sometimes I feel the same, and my aim becomes inconsistent - it is an indicator that I am tired. Just need a habit. Her holo always angled between shots it is visually helps to not click before next shot is ready aswell. Clicking befrore steady shot is the main reason why some ppl thinks she is projectile btw =)

I do have less time on her than I do on Widow or McCree. Maybe it’ll get better with practice? I dunno, I seemed to be a lot better with her gun when she first came out, but my aim seemed to go downhill with her for reasons I don’t understand.

I’m totally cool with that. It’s just the way the model of her gun sways when you look from right to left while scoped that leads me to think that might be a problem. Well, that and perhaps the way I strafe while shooting. How do you move while shooting at a) a target which is also shooting at you and b) a target which is moving but not shooting at you? I suppose I can stand still for the latter, like with Widow. Standing still just makes me paranoid, since I came here from Battlefield, where all weapons are projectile and standing still means death by sniper.

Of course you will. I have a girl, which is never played shooters before, she was around bronze-silver, half-year passed under my intense coaching she get to 2600 SR yesterday playing Ashe only.

I dont feel like i have some patterns, i just addapt, mb videos will help

I do strafes between the shots and trying to be at the same spot with my crosshair after back-strafe (left-righ = 0 crosshair offset) Aslso if someone is shooting at you, you have to rely on your aim if there is no other oprion, you cant just be evasive like forever, also you can try to copy enemies strafes to not affect your aim with strafes difference. If someone is moving and you’re safe (flanking) just let him walk into your crosshair, and prefer to stand stil while shooting. And if you feel aim great just hardflick everything.
Also if you want to main ashe, you have to know some about her hipfire, every first two shots with her hipfire has no spread, and after every animation, like you threw dynamite you have those 2 shots, after coach gun is the same, not 100% sure after bob. To be sure if u have these 2 casual shots, look at her right thumb on gun butt

I’ve found the sway is less pronounced with different skins. Safari Ashe seems to have the least. I use gangster Ashe though.

Yeah, I saw that you would stand still and take the easy shots whenever you could. I need to do that more, with both Widow and Ashe. I constantly try to flick every shot, and while it’s gotten me the rare message from someone asking if I use MKB (I don’t), it’s really only helped me fight off flankers in CQC. My long-range game is still pretty bad, so I hope that making an effort not to sabotage my own aim will help.

I’m 100% certain that only the first shot has 0 spread. I know this because I tested it thoroughly a week or two ago, right before I bought her golden gun and resolved to make her my fourth main. I didn’t measure the time required for her spread to reset but it felt like it was about 1.25s. I, too, noticed the position of her right hand and made the connection. :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:

I didn’t know that every animation, such as dynamite and coach, would reset the spread, though. That’s really nifty, and it explains why certain techniques are always pixel perfect. I’m kinda embarrassed that I never noticed that before, though I imagine it would be necessary to make dynamite shooting work properly.

Ooh, I’ll have to test this. I wanted to use the Jungle skin but the in-built crosshairs threw me off.
