Option to avoid flex queuers

Can there be an option to not play with competitive flex queuers? Personally speaking I would rather wait in a 15 minute queue and have people on my team who are focused on improving at their main role than have someone who is flex queueing for tickets so they can play their main role quicker. Now I’m not saying that some people aren’t good at flex’ing and that you can’t win with people off roleing, because you definitely can. People did it before priority passes (albeit less often) so it’s definitely possible. I just think it’d be a nice option.

Side note: I’d be curious to know how often you get flex queuers in your games  but i can also see this being a bad idea to know as it’s just another reason for people to be toxic if they’re not playing well.

Hard to say, it could affect queue times for everyone. Most definitely for dps. Flex q change was introduced to lower queue times.

Are you sure? Because you can easily wait longer then the games will be played. My normal queue times on dps before flex q were between 8-13 minutes in your elo. With tickets I still have 4-9 minutes for dps. Its definitely worse in EU. I have my queue times basicly halved when i play in US.

Honestly waiting to play when you want to play is the worst  so waiting less time to have sometimes slightly more unbalanced games is still preferable for me.

Nobody knows except blizz, you would have to keep asking players in your games to have some data about it. We have flex queue for some time already. I would guess that majority of frequent players is already in ranks they belong in with off roles.

I don’t see how it would impact queue times for everyone? Care to elaborate how it might? The only way I could see it potentially being an issue is if a tank player opted out of playing with flex queuers as it just further limits the already small pool of available tanks.

Also, before flex q I was getting 5 minute queues. After role queue it’s 10minutes, give or take. With a pass it brings it back down to 5. That’s perfectly fine if you’d rather have a quicker queue time and risk having more slightly unbalanced games. That’s not how I feel though.

Also it’s not about if the players are in their proper rank. I’m sure they are. The thing is that they’re off role’ing on a role they may not be motivated in actively improving on. Therefore perhaps they won’t play with 100% effort or they just don’t care about their sr on that role as their main focus is on farming tickets.

The entire point of flex queue is to lower queue times lol.

The problem with flex queue is it awards poor performance. Losses need to reward ZERO priority tickets. That way if a player flexes they will have to try their hardest to win or they will get NOTHING and waste their own time.

I’d rather avoid low level accounts, alts, smurfs before flex queuers become a problem. Also, there is an option already: OPEN queue. The way the game was meant to be played.

Also game is too lowpop for any more refinements.
We’re lucky they keep the servers up at this point.

Sure, it really depends on who will get the option. As you said, it could create problems if tank or role will have that option and it will be used. Because it limits of number of team mates available to create match. If only dps will get the option to do it then it would be most likely fine.

But its hard to think about consequences as we dont fully know how matchmaker pick team mates and in which order. If there even is order

Well thats fine for you in US  its not fine for EU where queue on dps is practicaly doubled. Bad match isnt that bad if you can play next one fast. It really suck to wait 13 minutes for 7 minutes long match with throwers.

And thats pc eu or US i talked about. Times on console and for example in australia are even worse.

I dont know. Even when i am on flex and dont care about my off role, i still want to win. It is me yeah, but generaly speaking people want to win games, losing sucks. And winning is also more tickets, cp points, sr… There might not be motivation to improve but i think there is definitely motivation to win.

Hence why it’s just an option for those who wouldn’t mind longer queue times.

I’m sorry, but we dps players have to play Flex to get Priority Passes to get to play as dps to matches in 3-10 minutes instead of 20-30.

It affects the entire playerbase, not only the avoiders.

Note that the feature is mostly used for preference, so it will most likely be overused. Players who simply don’t live up to someones expectation could just be avoided by alot of players. Instead of that player dropping in the ladder, they are met with higher queue times.

You see the ones being avoided also face an issue without always having done something wrong.

And well, if certain people can’t be matched together then it takes longer for those who weren’t avoiding or avoided to find a match that can be properly filled.

It was amazing when I had to wait 22 minutes for every dps queue match, thats barely 3 games in an hour. Support and tank roles are less than 5 without a prioirity pass. I literally quit the game because of the queue times last year

Yeah it really saved queue times though it has completely obliterated match quality.

They could’ve removed Role Queue and kept Open Queue and just should’ve created some sort of guild system and an improved LFG so people would have their compositions without queue times or match quality dropping.

Kind of an ancillary discussion point, but if the game is going 1-2-2 as many think, this pass system will most likely be removed - oh wait, its Blizzard we are talking about

Yeah I am starting to lose faith that the new “tanks” will ever do more than farm passes for DPS. its very frustrating to watch your tanks just yoloing in like Genji’s all the time…

As much as I don’t agree with OP entirely, this is their point and the major problem. Most DPS players don’t care if they win or lose in the Tank/Support role. They are more focused on getting passes and improving their DPS role.

I didn’t want to say it, but I agree that you should only get passes for a win.

As a tank main, I’m always sitting on the pass cap because I never use them. But I’m tired of DPS mains auto-locking hog, muting comms/chat and just not caring about their tank SR.

Really? I didnt notice anything. It was bad even before

It wouldn’t really work. There’s no huge reason for tank mains to choose ‘tank’ over ‘flex’ since you get tank 90% of the time anyways. I imagine the difference of ppl who pick ‘tank’ over ‘flex’ would make these queues way longer than 15mins. I’m guessing of course, but this is what myself and my friends do.

Assuming we’re talking plat and lower here…

Anyways, best solution I think is to have guilds and provide options for them to fight each other, like informal tournament style, that would be the only way to get guaranteed solid matches all the time I’d think.

A valid point tbh. If you’re a tank main then what’s the incentive to request to not queue with flex people? To ensure people playing support are actually playing their best & actively care about that role? I suppose that’d be about it.

I’ve just been more so saddened by the quality of matches since priority passed were added tbh and am desperate for a way to improve that. Maybe no tickets for losers is the way to go then :woman_shrugging:

you should be able to opt out of pp games and while were at it, the entire 2cp mode.

This is a silly request. There is no way to tell if someone is a flex queuer (AFAIK) unless they tell you (and they could be lying).

Flex Queue is meant to encourage people to play different roles.

Flex throwers are going to end up in bronze eventually, or ideally suspended (seems like this never happens ), where you won’t have to deal with them.

And then we have the rumored 5v5 format, because smaller groups are easier to put together and help your game thrive longer during offhours and lowpop conditions. That’s one reason I think they’ve looked into 5v5 for at least the story/campaign - which begs the question whether or not they want pvp to have the same feel and be same size.

So all the little goblin accounts end up in my backyard preventing me from ever reaching a career peak of 615sr ?

Nice.
