It would be a disaster.
Players who load in first play what they want, everyone else has to pick up the slack and get forced into roles they don’t want to play. This will be really toxic and not fun for those who don’t just instalock
Instead of competing with just 1 other person for your preferred heroes/roles, you’re competing with 5. Also really toxic when the heroes/roles you wanted to play are full and you have to play something else.
Matchmaking would be so much worse, a masters Support player that can’t pick support because theres already too many has to play tank which they’re only Gold on. More toxicity as they’re unhappy about the role they’re playing and probably get flamed by their teammates when they aren’t playing at a Masters level
Way too many issues to work.
it is my idea of FORCED ROLE QUEUE. i had suggested and thought about this but i kind of wanted it as a random flex mode. meaning when you queue into the game you are a random role. of course the format is 2-2-2
this is the same but basically you have to beat people on the hero select screen lol… you know poeple are gonna be super pumped on that select screen to play the role they wanna play. i think that is kind of toxic as well or will cause hurt feelings instead of you know randomness. still forced queue or open role queue limits thats basically the same thing probably wont be well recieved
people dont like to be forced
i think pure open queue would be cool but we have that. still open queue is messed up since it carries rules of role queue or its not balanced. open queue has to be balanced seperately (probably way less health for tanks since goats) but the devs wouldnt do that since its more work probably. which is a shame heh
balancing two formats is probably something they want to stay away from. i mean its possible but yea you know microsoft/blizzard/activision. less effort more monetization more money
Neither is 5v5 or 6v6
Neither addresses the issue - make people WANT to tank
We’ve had all three versions of the game of this point:
-
Before RQ nobody wanted to tank → add RQ
-
after RQ nobody wanted to tank (hence the queues) - address the ratio
-
make game 5v5 - nobody likes tanking - go back to no RQ (what’s being suggested)
And quite frankly you may never succeed in fixing this problem…which is why I just say screw it and just take the decision away…
Either get rid of them…or get rid of the choice and just make people tank from time to time - for whole games (everybody is random role)….or for part of the games (the game is now MH)
Can add that people need to accept the reality is that getting players to switch/play/force to Tank isn’t ever going to work. This role will always be the minority in these types of games.
Yeah, once i am forced to play tank instead of support when i want to. I’d be done. I barely enjoy the game as it is.
It depends on how it’s implemented. If it’s like the brief role limit QP (max of two of each role format) we had back in 2019 that launched a thousand angry threads, yeah, that won’t end well. If it’s as simple as having a limit of only one or two tanks on the team, well, that might work a lot better.
But I like 5v5 and tanking in 5v5 and others do too (and yes, others don’t)
But 5v5/122 matches the role popularity better than any other format, half as many tanks as anything else
Looks like we have the right format we just need to improve it
to some extent i agree with you…at the end of the day this ENTIRE discussion really just boils down to preference…its not that the game cannot work in any one of those formats…people just have their favorite playstyle
ive said in the past that they need to stop trying to placate everybody and just say “look the game is ____ you can either take it or leave it”…and if you see what i suggested at the end of previous reply it kinda echos that (just eliminate the choice - however you want to do it)
no matter what they do theyre not going to FIX the issue and theyre not going to make everybody happy…at some point it falls on people to make the decision themselves if the game is something they want to play
off topic:
what happens if during all the experimentation that will soon(ish) follow, they end up with a state of 5v5 that clicks a bit? (cause i would presume that theyll still balance the game during all this - one would think anyway)
I’ve a fast rig and have become excellent at instalocking over the years. I’m actually looking forward to seeing how this will test out. I’m going to have fun with it.
