Open Queue vs Role Queue

Which one do you think is better or more fun? … And why

Open Queue because more freedom, massively greater potential permutations

I choose you… Role Queue.

RQ feels better than the chaotic OQ.

Role queue, prevents forcing you into playing role you dont want to play, because everyone else is playing role that you actually want to play, and no one is willing to change.

Everytime i played 5v5 open queue qp, i was grouped with 4 dps players, or 3 tanks and 2 supports etc etc., and lost because of it.

tldr
More balanced matches.

The real question is:
Role queue before or after start the game?

They ruined open queue when they introduced the tank HP nerf. OQ is an absolute dumpster fire now.

I prefer Open Queue for a few reasons;

  • I really do not enjoy playing solo tank in RQ
  • I like playing tank duos with my friend
  • I like playing solo support
  • The queue times are generally shorter for OQ than for my preferred role (support) in RQ
  • I kinda just like the chaos that sometimes occurs in OQ (teams of 5 supports, or 4 supports & 1 tank, or 5 dps, etc.)

Paris, horizon, hanzos house, and zaryas hmmm feel like im forgetting a map

Role queue is more balanced because the dev’s sucked at their jobs and couldn’t do it right for open. The way the game shouldve been but they were bad

RQ mostly due to the rules restrictions. OQ is fair, kind of like old OW but the nerfs to tank HP is harsh, makes playing some hero’s nearly impossible. Doesn’t help that I think two or three the weekly challenges only apply to role que as well.

And it’s still best to stack tanks and supports :frowning:

Imo open queue is fine as long as there is at least 1 dps. Soon as it’s just all tanks and supports it’s just a bad mode. I’d say I usually see 1-2 dps per team. Which is totally fine.

Role queue is obviously the more balanced mode.

My big issue is not all tanks are hurt by the HP nerfs the same. JQ for instance becomes nearly unplayable with less HP as her self heal barely has anything to work with.

If i remember right she can even be one shot by Widow in OQ.

I agree, a flat 150 health nerf is not ideal. I still prefer it to no nerf. Since tanks were incredibly broken before that.

But it does need further changes, which I doubt the non rq modes will receive.

I’ve been loving RQ ever since it dropped in OW1. I still remember the days of 4 DPS and 1 healer. I’m ok losing a little freedom in team comp if it means I get a comp that actually works.

I just always hated why it was done, because Blizzard failed to balance the game after years of trying they gave up and made RQ. Then they failed again and made it 5v5. It’s a bad thing when the game dev’s fail so badly they have to remove features from a game instead of balancing it properly.

I also always hated how half the problems with OQ could of been solved by better teams. But it took what 7 years to get LFG, and then they removed it in OW2. We never had anything like a guild or clan system either to further help build good teams of people you knew on a regular basis.

I agree a clan system would have been great for the game. I also loved LFG when it was still a part of the game.
