Open Queue Group bug?

My unplaced friends can’t seem to queue with us. I’m plat 4 in Season 0 and shows still plat 4. I couldn’t queue with my unplaced friend who has never played open queue. He hopped into some matches and was playing with top 500 players and masters players. It’s a new account so where did this MMR come from? He lost 4 matches in a row then was playing with plat, we still couldn’t queue together. He lost another and was in with gold. We still couldn’t queue together.

Another friend who played 1 game in Season 0 who lost with us also cannot play in Season 1. We had him try to play with a gold 4 open queue player and it says skill mismatch as well. We tried with Plat 1, plat 4, and gold 4. Couldn’t play with anyone.

  1. Open queue is pulling MMR from QP or Role Queue. That is a scary sad fact that needs to be addressed.
  2. Unplaced accounts are unable to queue with friends and I don’t understand why. There is no information showing what needs to happen to be able to play together.

If you did a search before posting you’d see this bug has been around since the original game, ie long before the release of this broken sequel. It’s been around for years as far as I can tell. I can’t say I’m surprised they still haven’t fixed it, considering the countless new bugs they’ve added and still have yet to fix. The only workaround I know of is to have everyone who’s trying to queue together do their placements first─only after you actually have a rank for open queue for that season and are all in range of each other will you be able to queue up.
But if you take a look in the bug reports you’d also see how competitive rankings in general are all messed up right now. And that hasn’t really been fixed since release of the broken sequel, despite what they claim in the patch notes. So honestly I’d just stay away from comp altogether for now.

I did do a quick search and didn’t see anything up too. Didn’t dive too deep. Figured that was the case.
