Open Queue: GOATS 2.0

For those who play Open Queue competitively, when running “GOATS” composition in 5v5 what would be the conditions to justify running 3 support vs 3 Tanks?

Ive found that both team compositions have about the same win rate as each other, but i find that in some matches when a 3 Tank GOATS comp is struggling, swapping to a 3 support GOATS comp will somehow adjust the team synergy in a manner that will turn the fight in our favor and vice versa.

I cant quite pinpoint what is happening to cause the shift in performance, but im curious to know what the Open Queue player base thoughts/experiences with this are (if any).

This mode sucks not even worth playing because of this

If you are under the impression that GOATS is dominant to the extent that it was in OW1, then i understand where you’re coming from. However, that hasnt been my experience with GOATS in OW2 as there seems to be some counter play against it. Typically what ive experienced in my matches is that a DPS heavy comp tends to be effective against GOATS in 5v5, especially when there’s a mixture of DPS types consisting of Flank, Flying and Hitscan.

In OW2, GOATS comes across more as a play style than it does as a meta.

Ive been forced into goats for my placement matches. I wanted to play DPS but everyone yelled at me to go tank
So like 70% of my placements were 4 tank 1 healer and the other 30% were 3 tank 2 healer
My Open Queue rank is plat 5
