I used to praise role queue for stabilizing games by ensuring a well rounded comp, but lately I’ve been wanting to pull my hair out at the lame choices my comps have had. It’s either a significant lack of countering because of one-tricking, or not enough support (funny enough, my tank line is usually really solid).
I don’t much care for games that have the potential for 5/6 DPS heroes, but man do I miss not being able to counter things they way they should be.
Don’t worry. There are are at least 10x as many lame-choice comps in open queue than in role queue. You have fun. Just don’t expect to have any hair left after a month of it.
I thought the same thing when I started playing, but my experiences were actually better in open queue. I hit my highest ever SR playing it.
Flex players have artificially higher SRs in open queue due to them flexing. Also it had a much smaller player base, and was intentionally offered to draw DPS players away from role queue, so the effect is larger than it was before.
