Open Que Placements

All I can think is why do people care about this mode.

All it is instalock DPS players, who then cry about having no support or tank…

Every game is a meme comp and all I think is…

THANK F FOR ROLE LOCK. OLD OVERWATCH WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a serious open Q match (Peak was only 2500, I’m pretty sure Diamond+ players actually have braincells)

Yeah. I said to my friend “open que is where the chimps all go to fling s**t at each other”

Open que is terrible for the same reason text chat should be removed. The community can’t be trusted to think first.

They should either remove the temptation (ie role que/removing chat) or hard incentivise better behaviour.

Sadly removing peoples toys works better.

Maybe that’s your experience? I recorded over 4 hours worth and it’s not mine…

IDK. I usually mute comms.

They did. We had to campaign for a whole year to get it back

As someone that instalocks an off meta DPS, and maintains a 70% WR in OQ, it’s beautifully chaotic.

Having someone OT Rein in that mode is magical, it kinda forces both teams to take it a bit more seriously.

Because its free from people that want to enforce 2-2-2. And if those people dare to come in and be toxic trying to enforce it I will auto swap and camp the spawn point to make sure its a 3-2-1 of any sort. Open que is how the game was meant to be played. True overwatch.

How does spawn trapping them solve 222 clowns? Or do you mean you just afk in spawn? Rofl.

See I agree in principle.

My issue is that they’ve decided to balance the game for 222. Which is fine. It is what pro teams have to play. So clearly that is currently what they see the game of overwatch.

So in my book open que isn’t overwatch. It’s just a clown fiesta with the same heroes and then randomly someone wins.

I dont afk. If 2-2-2 happens organically fine i dont care. But if they get on vc or message people telling them “swap to xyz blablablah wtf man gerr” then I make it a mission to enforce non-222. Usually will swap after a death.

People say that. Its kindof true kindof false. Having an overwhelming advantage in one or two roles can definitely create the space needed to get kills and win. It depends on the team you have, how your team plays, how the enemy reacts and adapts to the plays. The true open role que experience is being able to fluidly change characters yourself and with your teammates to surprise the enemy defense /offense and overpower them. The swapping and overpowering is what makes winning happen.

I would also argue that the fact ultimates have become weaker in general benefits open role que more.

I’ve played about 15 open queue matches this season and in almost all of them both teams were 2-2-2.

Ultimates haven’t become weaker.

Sustain abilities have become stronger.

(Something that gold players that force mercy ana every game seem to forget)

If there are no supports or tanks, then it sounds like the sustain problem fixed itself and you’ve got yourself a proper match of just pure pew, pew, pew.

Everyone has different experiences. I prefer Open-Queue because While I main 2 Support heroes, if things aren’t working out, or my teammates are acting goofy, I switch to something else. I don’t have that option to go to another role in 2-2-2.

sub gold its wierd
I didn’t touch it till I was plat then genji 1 trickd to gold
then since DPS was insta locked I just played ball
now im climbing it to diamond
in the plat range its alright, people still troll and are toxic but usually you get some form of 2-2-2

They became weaker by charging less quickly. So even though the power level is the same the frequency of ultimates has gone down. Gone are the days of pharah rockets 5x per game.

Yes. Which makes them much more reliable in open que and helpful for swaps.

Giggity

I don’t understand why this is an issue though. You don’t have to play it. In fact you won’t even see the related skill rating in your profile if you never play it.

They got rid of it and then they brought it back because there was sufficient demand for it.

What the professional players do or do not do is of little concern to those of us who enjoy the mode.

Most be for pc.

On console, it’s straight up tactic gameplays, mic talking, and fun people who know what they are doing and when to switch heroes to over play the enemies.
And of course, no toxic behavior when lost. Discussed what might of been the issue and move on.

I only ever do my placements in Open Queue, but I start to question more and more if the few competitive points are worth losing my sanity :joy:

[laughs in Bastion one tricks, meme duos, and goats]

My most recent batch of placements (I do it every season)…

Still waiting for that bad experience…
