Oof, Mei disabled till November 15th

Gee, if only they’d held their promised beta instead of cancelling it to rush in with a cash-grab early release…

The game was so obviously meant to have a 3rd beta and was clearly not ready for release. The bugs and complete lack of polish is pretty terrible, frankly. But I guess money talks

They…

did…

WHAT?

… it’s like they’re actively just trying to make this the worst experience ever for me.

One of the few things I was really enjoying was playing Mei again.

What happened to when fixing gamebreaking bugs for a character took like 4 days tops?

Good lord

Just a reminder that this would never happen to a more popular($$$) hero. The development malaise is astonishing.

Wait until the sleeping playerbase wake up to find their waifu gone.

I agree so they should remove bastion again until mei is fixed (PLEASE). Game quality/fun has gone down considerably in low elo since bastion got back.

I’m asking this because I genuinely don’t know what’s going on with Mei, but what was the exploit/bug? Did it involve Kiriko?

I would have thought they’d also address the fact that Mei’s ice wall is bugged for her since she couldn’t even walk on it, but they didn’t even mention that!

i’m more pissed they did not take the opportunity to say the are putting “Mei on ice” or some other pun.

Small indie company, clearly. What a meme.

“live service”

Dva was disabled for a few hours when she broke the game in OW1

Also hotfixes absolutely can be done in less than a week on consoles. Have seen it happen aplenty with multiple other games that have crossplay with same patch on all platforms.

Kiriko’s teleport can get her out of bounds with the right setup – basically certain geography. Mei’s ice wall made it relatively easy to construct the necessary geography to setup the OOB teleport. A clip recently went around on social media demonstrating not only the exploit itself, but how to fully utilize it on Busan: Downtown to get up to the entire team under the map’s kill field and in range of players on the point.

Mei’s wall is indeed busted af, but it’s only really busted to Mei’s detriment. In this specific case Kiriko is the core problem, but Mei’s ice wall exacerbates it, and due to the clip going viral, is the well-known setup (though there are others).

One of the lead devs already confirmed that Mei’s wall will be getting some love for the next patch before they disabled her, and Kiriko’s other OOB setups aren’t well known, and are far more situational, so I’m sure the decision making was such that: kiriko is more popular, we have microtransactions for her, she’s the newest hero, support is lacking heroes, and Mei already isn’t competitively viable anyway, so disabling her is a less disruptive choice financially and to the players.

I just wish the messaging was more to the point and more clear as to what’s going on here, rather than leaving things to interpretation. Mei already gets a lot of hate for being unfun and whatever; and stuff like this doesn’t help her perception to the community.

Unintended locations? What unintended locations?! SHE CAN’T EVEN GET ON THE INTENDED LOCATION OF HER OWN DAMN WALL!

Is Mei getting a buff?

In what universe does it make sense to disable characters with concerning bugs from EVERY mode?? I’ve been having so much fun playing Mei (and not intentionally trying to make any use of her ice wall bugginess) and now I can’t even jump into FFA Deathmatch to practice right clicks? Or the practice range? Or arcade? I understand Comp and to a lesser extent, Unranked, but this such a massive buzzkill as someone new to the character that was having so much fun. Sure, it’s temporary but it’s not like 2 weeks is terribly short either (and if I read correctly, they’re aiming for a fix in 2 weeks??).

So disappointing man. I just dropped $20 on her Halloween skin too since it came up in my shop lmao.

don’t get your hopes up

Over two weeks to fix a broken wall?
I bet if the store was broken, it wouldn’t take two weeks to fix.
3 characters that needed to be pulled in the first few weeks, another couple of heros clearly broken and it takes weeks and weeks to fix anything???
This is is just honestly shameful.
If Mei had a mythical skin on sale right now, she’d be fixed in a day.
