Only reworking shadowstep wont make reaper any good

His spread is bad. His ult is bad.
His damage and lifesteal against armor is bad.
If they just change shadowstep and call it a day, im literally done with this game.

I already dont play. Just waiting for the rework.
Its been 8 years. If they mess it up, i dont have any reason to put any faith in this balance team.

They never said that’s the only thing happening for him.

Reaper really only has 1 problem and it is that he cannot both engage and disengage. If they fix Shadowstep, then they fix that problem.

It’s the weakest part of his kit….addressing that would do wonders for him

And spread weapons are perfectly fine…how many heroes have spread in game that aren’t “weak”

Wow I can’t wait for shadowstep to become an instant escape ability like Sombra’s translocator.

Mobility creep and heroes that have an instant escape from combat whenever they’re losing a 1v1 are definitely a blast to play against!

He takes three shots against enough of the supports (due to their hitboxes or armor) for him to not be a useful pick even if they change shadowstep. My worry is that to make him be able to compete against venture and tracer in that niche- He will be more terrifying for supports than a sombra stalking an unaware zenyatta.

Don’t worry, they will managed to make him even worse.

Make his teleport instant, no channeling required. Also make his wraith form being able to go vertical.

Really?

Increase cooldown to 15 seconds

Remove his stand still at the start of shadow step and allow him to walk around (exactly like that one April fools patch)

ALSO give reaper 1 second of invincibility after shadow stepping (but he CANNOT shoot during this, but he CAN move) so that reaper has an entirely safe repositioning tool on a long cooldown that CANNOT be used to blitz a squishy, but also CANNOT be punished unless he misplays his positioning and you react.

There. Reworking shadow step can potentially fix every single issue reaper has A: engaging, and B: disengaging, while maintaining his identity as a close range burst hero with flank and brawl potential.

For balance purposes we should abandon his tank buster identity (which has already mostly happened anyway).

He should be most dangerous to supports. And if he ended up overtuned with these kinds of changes the best Avenue for nerfs is his lifesteal.

First idea bad, second idea good.

You need a window of to react to such strong burst damage and kill potential like reapers, especially since he has an escape tool.

It’s better to make his engage tool super safe and reliable but not duel winning through the element of surprise. So he can use it to choose his engagements based on the match at hand by selecting the position he believes would be best, and GETTING there safely instead of at half health.

Wraith form going verticle is common sense and it’s appalling they never added that. Close range hero who’s disengage is super slow and limited? Like why? Look at venture, gengi, sombra, and now consider how broken tracer has to be to justify lacking verticle mobility… close range hero’s need to be able to live up and down too.

Hes ok actually just cant play him as a tank buster

A lot of people like you seemingly like to throw the word “x creep” around and it rarely makes sense. If Reaper had instant shadowstep he is still an inferior Tracer in terms of mobility. He is still inferior to Sombra, who is inferior to the Sombra that she once was. Its not “mobility creep” to bring the underpowered trash heroes up to the level of everyone else. That is just accepting that something was too weak to begin with.

As opposed to people like you with 12,000 posts on a video game forum. Surely you must hold the correct opinion.

How doesn’t it make sense, to anyone who isn’t dense? It’s a clear word, with a clear meaning.

So then you admit it’s creep from the prior state of the game. Man you internet contrarians self-own so often it’s crazy.

His ult is really bad now yeah. I always thought it would be on the same level as before the health changes and stuff, but nope. After playing him for plenty of matches it’s actually bad as it is right now. Just giving him better spread and making his ultimate as strong as before would suffice to get him back in the game again

Well with Venture just being better Reaper, yeah it makes sense to have Reaper in mind for some kind of change lol.

So using your logic if a hero is released who is awful, ANY buff to them whatsoever would have you crying “x creep” because if a hero is bad they must remain bad until the end of time in your eyes.

Now that your entire position has demonstrated to be complete nonsense in a single sentence we can move to the actual definition. In order for you to claim “x creep” the peak of that thing in question must be going up. Given that it is not there is no creep. The line of what constitutes great mobility has not changed. If anything Sombra, who was was one of those peak heroes, has lost mobility so if anything it has gone down.

Elimination or damage could reduce his cooldowns slowly. Like shave off a few seconds for an elim, or .1 second per some damage threshold per shot (encourages well placed shots over spam).

Nope, not true.

Yes, more of the new heroes have high mobility moves that enable them to reposition, take high ground, or disengage/engage from fights quickly. Many of the OG heroes lack these moves: Ana, Bastion (nade jump debatable, but not that great), Cass, Mei, Orisa, Rein, Hog, Torb, Zarya, Zen.

Essentially every hero added to the game except for Sig and Orisa has some great mobility moves while the OG heroes are left to press WASD to move around the map.

Even Mauga’s charge is a far superior mobility tool to Rein’s charge, since it grants a 50% damage reduction.

You can’t honestly say that playing heroes like Zen can feel like you’re glued to the floor while 9 other players bounce around the map.

Of course, we could continue the discussion with immortality creep - Suzu, Grip, Lamp. But I doubt you’re emotionally equipped to have that discussion, you’re probably already in tears by the time you’ve finished reading this utter shutdown of your bad opinions.

I laughed super hard in a recent streamer talk when it was brought up Kiriko vs. Reaper.

Kiriko instantly, silently, and often steps to another teammate.

Reaper slowly and while screeching at the top of his lungs, “FLLLAAANKIIINGG!”, moves to a choreographed location that might as well have a spotlight and sign on it that says, “shoot here in 2 seconds to kill me before I fail at retaliating”.

That is not Reaper’s only issue. Even when he does engage, he’s still getting out damaged by long range heroes even at point blank. What’s the point of a shotgun hero if their not even threatening at point blank?

Please explain to me how it’s fair for Hanzo to do 249 damage from all ranges, yet Reaper is barely putting out 216 with perfect aim and optimal distancing (aka point blank).
