I’ve been unable to connect to any game mode or practice range in Overwatch 2 for over a month, consistently receiving the error message: “Connection to server failed.”
Steps I’ve Taken:
Reinstalled Battle.net and Overwatch:
The game was fully reinstalled, and I’ve also run a full scan and repair of the game files (multiple times).
Network Configuration:
I reset the network using the netsh int ip reset and netsh winsock reset commands.
DNS cache was flushed with ipconfig /flushdns.
Router and modem were restarted multiple times.
IPv6 was disabled to prioritize IPv4.
Firewall & Security Settings:
I verified that Overwatch and Battle.net are allowed through both the Windows Firewall and antivirus settings.
No VPN or proxy is interfering with the connection.
Consulted with ISP (Sunrise/UPC):
My ISP confirmed that there are no routing issues or network-level blocks affecting my connection to Blizzard’s servers. Diagnostics showed no problems with my connection.
Tried New Accounts & Different Devices:
I created a new Overwatch account to see if it was an account-specific issue, but the same error occurred.
Testing the connection with other devices yielded the same result.
Blizzard Support Interaction:
I’ve contacted Blizzard support multiple times, and while I followed all their recommended steps, the issue remains unresolved. The case was closed without any additional information or resolution, with the final suggestion being to post on the forums.
Current Status:
The issue persists 100% of the time, making the game unplayable. I’ve tried every suggested troubleshooting step from multiple Game Masters and community members, but the problem still exists. At this point, it seems like a server-side or account-specific issue that requires further investigation from Blizzard’s end.
Any insights or advice from the community or Blizzard staff would be greatly appreciated!
This has been happening to me too : ( making another account worked for me but I can’t get into my main one still which I think broke after merging, I really hope they find a fix for this!! Especially with the new season coming up.
Omg this is basically me right now. It’s been 4 days, and I cannot play Overwatch because whenever it searches and tries to load a game, the game takes forever to load and eventually stops. The notification on the left side says, “Failed to connect to server.” I have already reinstalled the game, restarted my modem, restarted my computer multiple times, and right-clicked SCAN AND REPAIR. But NONE OF THESE STEPS WORK.
The game is unplayable. And I’ve been playing this game for years. Never had such issue.
I have been going through this same problem, when i try to load into any gamemode it kicks me out saying “failed to connect to server” on literally everything. There’s also one more underlying issue with keeping me logged into my account. I’m not sure if it’s my computer, as I’m currently troubleshooting everything and running full scans on it for any viruses hindering me joining roblox games, overwatch games, and i have yet to see if it’s just those two are down or if it’s just me… The staff of Overwatch 2 should help us and fix this ASAP.
Agreed. I can’t even login into the game period, after merging my accounts I get the LC-208 code… there seems to be a lot of problems at the moment unfortunately, just hoping they can help us out soon! I’m a returning player and I’ve played on and off since the release of Overwatch 1, so I really want to enjoy the new season and be able to play.
I’m having the login screen loop problem as well, of course got told the same in a support ticket to flush my dns, restart router etc. all stuff I did before I made the ticket, but they just copy paste a generic troubleshooting message and don’t actually read about your problem.
To top it off. They just closed it as resolved and said i should go look for support from the wider community.
didn’t even ask for log files or anything to help the dev’s troubleshoot or replicate.
I guess i didn’t buy enough skins to warrant more effort on their end. ;(
bump, I just “managed” to get over 2000 ms pings in Asia server (dunno what the server node is). weirdly enough, I experienced it without any single disconnects throughout the game. frickin weird.
this sounds a lot like an issue I’ve been having, too. haven’t checked with ISP, but currently it’s a mystery of what the issue is. the only thing that seems to work for a match is closing the game and reopening it, but having to close and reopen the entire game between each match is ridiculous.
the similarities are genuinely surprising. using US servers instead of EU (I’m English) didn’t work fully, so my current attempted fix is just throwing the WorkerThreadCount additiional instruction in and seeing if that helps, because it feels a lot like when the game used to crash between beta and like 6 months post-release. it probably won’t do anything, but I’ll it. why not. it can’t make things worse.
(I did a thread in bug report bcus my brain cut out, so I’m putting everything after /t/ in the url here so that others can read what I’ve tried though the list is very similar to OP’s; /eu-server-issues/936905)
Gonna add my two cents here - the issue is still going on for me. It does seem to have something to do with my internet as I seemed to be able to connect without these issues over hotspot, but that’s hardly a sustainable solution. Further, I have not had any issues with any other online game, so even if my internet is a part of the issue, Overwatch clearly has some unique problem that is causing this apparent incompatibility.
My own issue goes like this:
I can log into the main menu
I can open the practice range maybe 20% of the time, but even when I get in I have around 300 ping
I can get into qp maybe 10% of the time, but again with connectivity issues
Can’t get into comp at all, it gives me repeated “failed to connect to server errors” BUT I can see match chat and the game won’t abort the match like it should, which really screws over everyone else in the lobby
Very bummed about this, as I was playing on this same internet without any issues just a month ago and now I’m one more failed connection away from a season ban.
