Apparently it’s too much work to try to improve your teamwork synergy with off meta heroes.

I’ve noticed people making that point, “Heroes like Soldier, Reinhardt, Mercy, and Tracer are so much easier to work with than off meta heroes, so people that play off meta should be playing meta instead.”

I’m sitting here going, “Dude the point of the team game isn’t for your team to offload the effort required to work with any hero or situation.” While that’s nice to have, I just find it contradictory that people call Overwatch a team game when they’re not willing to put in the effort to maximize the strengths of their teammates, off-meta or not.

Also if you were an employee for a company or whatever are you gonna start complaining because the hiring policy is, “Literally whoever, we’ll take literally anyone we can, we do not care at all.”

Like what do you think is going to happen? Because that’s solo matchmaking, you have no idea who you’re gonna be matched with, so when random off meta heroes show up and you start going, “Omg this employee/coworker is so hard to work with I hate this person, I shouldn’t have to work with them.”

I feel like you only have yourself to blame for putting yourself in that situation, either git gud or accept the environment you’re in or 6 stack. Or complain until Blizzard changes the environment, if ever that happens.

I can agree with that. I think staying out of chat is a viable option if people are being rude. Personally, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and try to be nice first. If they’re toxic in response then that’s on them

Those who abuse OTP off meta heroes are true one-tricks…

Yeah, you can flex, switch to zarya, then heal with lucio or be a good/bad or ugly (for those who get the joke) mccree. But this is all, you basically constrained with those 10-14 meta-heroes (hello STAR labs). It’s like every game is the same, no variety, no imagination…
Ofc. You can be bad-as’ tracer, kill everything that moves (if that doesn’t moves - move it and kill) , wipe out supports, be a curse for any tank and even get that pharah, but for that you must main and one-trick her… -> no one will complain if met you
Then you can be commando-anna (like an Arnold, but with more hair). all kids must sleep in the night, or they will get cod-liver oil (bionic nade). And good kids will get her cookies (heals). But you must be playing a lot as anna, like one-trick -> no one will complain if met you
Or. You can be like a ROCK (baywatch, get it ?) - reinhard. Shield your allies and hammer those who not (and don’t miss a chance to show your biceps) -> no one will complain if met you

But, I see those heroes like in every game, wouldn’t it be exciting to get a rare hero and see what he can, how he can shine where no one expects him to shine, to experiment with tactics, to add variety to those games. There should be no template for win, you should flex not with your heroes , but with your mind.

And last: I was OPT as hanzo, rein, zarya, hog, junkrat and torb - I think this is only way you can really feel the hero, by playing him from game to game, not spreading the focus. And guess what? I got banned only when I started to play torb. (Coincidence? I do not think so)

P.S for those who complains on countered heroes: there can be no situation when at least one of a team is not countered by someone from another team - it is 6vs6. Heroes always get countered, question is: will you allow them to ?

Simple example:

  • Team A has pharah
  • Team B has widow
  • Team A has winston
  • Team B has reaper
    What team is countered (and it just 2vs2) ?

No 1 character in overwatch is the cause of a complete roll. You and your team failed to work together at all. Consider the strategies employed in your match. Ask did you make the right choices with your hero? Peeling supports, teamshooting, call outs, proper ulting, positioning, hitting shots, efficient ability usage.

If any of those could have been better. You don’t have the right to blame someone else.

Okay so… if you’re always losing when you have a onetrick on your team… and that onetrick isn’t always losing when you’re not on their team…

Well, you might want to check yourself. Tilt is sometimes subtle but always insidious. No match is truly lost until it is over. Just keep an even keel and try not to let it make you angry.

Cause honestly if you’re letting that other person make you angry you are giving them all the power in that situation. If they’re bad, then they’re bad. They’ll fall lower than you and/or you’ll climb higher than them.
