Ok so most of you are coming into to this with an opinion right. Well idc what yours is and I wont give mine right now. But I will describe a game I just had. Horizon. Regular game we have a torb on defense. Ok thats fine. We lose first point. I ask can we switch torb. Answer-“NO”. We lose second point. They had 6:05. We attack. “Ok can we switch torb now?”. “No idc if you report me nothing will happen”. We lose without getting a tick. I know that he bought the game just like veryone else but he ruined it for 5 others. And yes I am upset so say what you want but this needs to be fixed.
Ps. The fact that bliz will only let us avoid players 2 at a time means they know how many toxic players there are and that you cant find a match without them

I’d your losing a match because of a 1-trick Torb that won’t switch you need to play around their playstyle. Whenever we think someone needs to pick a different role, we’re most likely not going to be able to help them out. Also what tier are you in? Cause attack torbs work well on my teams in bronze.

why is it always the off-meta players fault that a team isn’t doing well, are meta heroes incapable of doing badly or something? do you press tab and just assume that if the team isn’t doing hot, it has something to do with the hero you dislike?
if the enemy team finishes horizon with over 6 minutes left, then your team obviously has problems greater than the Torb player you’re trying to blame, it isn’t like someone can be so detrimental to your team that EVERYONE couldn’t do anything because of someone’s hero pick, the game simply doesn’t function like that.
it also gets really old to get blamed for each loss, what does me playing Symmetra have to do with a team that can’t figure out that engaging 1v6 isn’t the right call? or that blowing your ult as soon as you get it might not be the right choice? people act as if i’m holding a gun to their head and forcing them to play like the trash that they are, once they find themselves onto another team with no easy scapegoat hero to shift their own mediocrity on they’ll have literally no clue what to say without having a Torb or Symmetra to pin the loss on.

if he is the actual reason you lost, and this sort of thing happens often, he’ll drop to his rank pretty fast. most likely there was something else going on that he couldn’t do anything about, or someone else could have done something about. for example maybe one of your teamates was tilted over having a torb and played poorly? it could also be that he had an off game and was playing worse than usual. bad games happen to everyone.

Im in plat and how do you play around an attack torb that is garbage

If the one trick is so incapable of holding his own at your rank, then he won’t be there for much longer. Problem solved.
Yes we had problems, and I was fine with the torb but when he does not work with the team and builds his turret OUT OF RANGE OF THE POINT then I think he may be a large problem
don’t play around him, play with him. He’s in plat too, he probably got there by playing with his team like everyone else. The idea that your team has to play around one tricks is so old and worn out. all any off-meta players want usually is for the team to not flame them.

It was his refusal to cooperate that angered me and my team. We had a rien and he moved his turret away from the shield.

watching people like fuey500 play in GM/top500 he doesn’t like his turrets behind shields usually. it’s possible the torb’s playstyle is to use the turret to distract the enemy and draw fire away from the team rather than deal significant damage. clearly whatever he’s doing usually works for him to maintain his rank.

We didn’t at first read the beginning. But when they just dont care and only want to put their turret down in front of a full charge zarya thats the problem. Also he could not be maintaining his rank. He could be free falling and taking our team with
I usually pick Orissa to support his turrets, or Reinhart. When I Mailed Mei, I figured out she is a good help to Torb. People can easily get offended by how you ask them to switch too, if you ask someone to switch, they might play the match to upset you, because you upset them by saying you think they should pick something else. I only ask as a group of a team to switch, not one person directly. “Hey can we get another tank.” “Does anyone play D.VA? She is strong on this map” etc. Positive remarks for what would make a good team. If nobody changes, study what type of team you have, make your own changes to how you can work it the most and don’t ever, ever, ever say, “Let’s see how this works” sarcastically, because your whole team is walking out of the spawn room with the wrong mindset.

there are reasons to put turrets down in situations that may seem strange, for example did you know torb can use turret to block significant damage? for example it can block deadeye for torb. it’s possible he was attempting to protect himself from the zarya for long enough to get support
Ok even if that is what he did that does not explain why he should be able to throw games. You seem to think he was trying. He was not at all. Why do you feel the need to defend him?
you imply there is a problem to be fixed, there isn’t. if he’s throwing or significantly worse then your current skill level, he will drop. otherwise it was either an off game or there was something else going wrong other than the torb pick. Why do you think he wasn’t trying? because he was playing torb? because he was playing in a way you don’t like? you also say that you consider this torb onetrick to be toxic. your entire first post is targeted about how terrible it is that you had a torb onetrick on your team. not that he was feeding by walking into the enemy team, not that he was inactive, your original post basically came down to ‘we had a torb, we lost, avoid only has 2 slots.’ most builder mains have been told we’re throwing when we aren’t. hell, some of us are still climbing while being told we throw so we started joking that we just suck at throwing.

if your argument went from the guy playing Torb to the guy blatantly throwing then i don’t see what relevance his character choice has, i don’t see the point of addressing one-tricks when the post boils down to you being upset about some guy intentionally throwing your game.
i mean, if the person in particular played Tracer and threw your game, would you make a post addressing all Tracer players as if they all exemplify the same behavior?

Just because they play a hero that’s off meta you don’t like doesn’t mean they are the problem. I had a game last night where I was playing Mei very good and was constantly being told to switch off and I was the problem. The enemy team was even saying in chat how good I was doing but that didn’t matter because next phase I got Mei instalocked by someone else because they tilted I’m good with off Meta heroes. They were the problem, not the one trick. He practically gave up because I was playing Mei and had to steal from me to throw the game. Of course we lost because of the thrower. Thing was, enemy team was defending me because how much of a pain in the butt I was to them in the fights.
I also tell people to go ahead and report me because nothing will happen. I’m not abusive, I don’t troll, I communicate well, I don’t go afk, I don’t throw, so what is there to report and get me suspended? Nothing. I do absolutely nothing wrong so all the reports against me (I know a bunch) will do nothing and I’ve been playing strong this season and some of last season mostly Mei only and not had a penalty.
That is a valid strat to keep tracers and flankers from hetting behind attack torb
you just hate the hero and u want to come here and complain
real question is why didnt u go shield tank to support the torb pick ?
cause u were tilted by his pick when he probably had gold damage and gold elims

there was this guy that was trying to knock a nail into place with a wooden board. Another guy says to him it would probably work better if he used an actual hammer instead of the board. the guy holding the board then says that everyone keeps telling him that and it’s “so annoying” because it’s not the boards fault the nail isn’t going in right, or in at all for that matter.
Oh wait… yes it is. do you see the point here? you’re not using the right tool for the job and then getting mad at the people who point that out to you. are there multiple tools that could be used for that job? yes. is it using niche heroes in methods opposite of what their niche is? obviously not. To answer your question, that is why.

you’re not using the right tool for the job
what if i’m very proficient at hammering a nail into the wall using the skulls of my enemies to the point where the end result is indistinguishable from whether or not it was hammered in with a hammer?
is it using niche heroes in methods opposite of what their niche is? obviously not.
you say this while using niche heroes outside of their niche has worked out very well, it is almost as if some heroes have evolved out of their niche with enough experimentation.
