One thing I noticed about Wuyang

He’s actually our first white-skinned male support hero. Lucio and Baptiste are both black (I still don’t get how Lucio’s black but Illari isn’t since they’re both South American), Zenyatta is an omnic and Lifeweaver’s actually darker skinned.

Same argument could be made the opposite for the tank roster. We don’t have a single dark skinned lady tank.

It’s what happens when a role is skewed towards one way or another.
Less variation in the smaller precentile

I thought he was Asian.

Homie is Chinese. That being said, you know how anime art style is. It can be difficult to tell because they have those Jeeper Creepers. :eyes:

If we ever get a western male white skinned support, you can better your bottom dollar they’re going to be evil/Talon.

Portugal was a major colonial power in South America at the time and brought over millions of slaves into Brazil.

There’s quite a few very pale Chinese, particularly those that originated in Western China near the Himalaya mountain regions.

Likewise, there’s a whole caste of pale Indians too.

And that’s about as far as I’m going to go with regards to this skin-color thing with regards to East Asia.

You’ve never seen someone who is Portuguese and dark skinned? Use google. There are tons of ethnic backgrounds with people that look like Lucio.

That’s not what I meant. What I meant is that Illari is dark skinned too but doesn’t get categorized the same way Lucio does.

Didn’t Spain do the same thing to other South American countries?

She lives in a mountainous area where it is usually quite cloudy, which can interfere with tanning

What’s your definition of white? He’s east-asian.
You mean the first light-skinned support?

you people and your obsession with skin color :relieved:

To be fair, Blizzard is embracing this mentality.
They became openly tokenistic in OW2.

Yeah, precisely that.

He’s Chinese. Why do people keep calling Asian’s white? They are lighter skinned but not white.

I think what’s happening is your use of language here. Not sure if english is your native tongue or to what extent. I’m also not poking fun at you.

It’s understandable that some would expect some consistency in categories. With that in mind, it makes little difference. It might be significant to you for any reason. Take real world implications. People who come from the same region can also have different upbringings and influences. We all say and do things that others aren’t fully capable of understanding. Because you aren’t me. I’m not you.

There’s this surge of posts over the past two weeks about lore. The writers didn’t do a particularly outstanding job of fleshing everything out. Now, 9 years later we keep seeing questions about it. Just enjoy it for what it is. It’s meant to be fun. Obviously you can do what you want, but what difference does it make? It’s a fictional character that has tiny traces of lore for a FPS.
