Let me say I flex main the hero on support. Let me also say I do not want to see him gutted the way Mercy and Brig were.
I love his kit. But one part is incredibly broken and why he’s so successful.
Yeah, Lamp is good. But Regen burst is what allows Bap to play in any situation. It makes him independent of his other support. It allows him to tank 150dmg.
Simply remove it from the game.
Now he has no form of self heal. Immort gets to stay, as it should. And more counter-play is available.
He would become the only support incapable of self-healing/recovery, but also the only support with a death defying ability.
Seems healthier than deleting Immort. Because as long as insta-kill and team wipe abilities exist on cooldown, Immort is healthy for the game.
How about Immortality gets buffed and becomes his ultimate, an indestructible lamp with cleansing and damage resistance, not immortality. You can tank a D.Va Nuke or a Blizzard, but you can still be killed if the enemy is persistent enough.
Amplification Matrix is nerfed, maybe 1.5X, but I think Baptiste should keep his garage door size “window”.
Purely from a gameplay perspective: the worst part of lower-ranked Brig is being so reliant on the other support for self-sustain. Spreading that around doesn’t appeal.
When it comes to balance, Bap does very well for himself at the very top and…less so everywhere else. I assume this change wouldn’t alter anything up high due to supports working together and effectively negating this new weakness, while down below it would make him worse than he already is.
My problem is that there is insta-kill abilities on cooldown.
So why is there only two “saving” abilities on cooldown (Rez and Immort)?
Widow headshot, Hanzo headshot, Storm Arrow, Hog Hook, Rein Pin, Flash & Fan, Sleep Dart, Discord- all abilities or straight up insta-kill kits that are 1-Shot or with an inkling of team coordination are a free kill.
Immort is healthy for the game when all of this other BS exists.
Ok, so you think having complete invincibility below a certain health is better? I mean, I guess so, but that might promote more camping in under that little lamp thing. Maybe Booping will be more viable?
I don’t think he needs it. It’s already virtually useless for allies.

Regen burst does nothing for tanks. All it currently is, is a way to rapidly built Ult. And honestly his Ult build rate is absurd, so this would seriously balance it.
There’s a reason why regen bursts ability to heal teammates got nerfed…
If baptiste has ANY issues, it’s immortality field. There’s absolutely no reason to nerf any other part of his ability whatsoever. Maybe window, but there isn’t that much people complaining about his window afaik.
I knew it got nerfed, but ew, that is utter garbage. The devs have no damn clue how to balance Supports OR Tanks. I guess we must both become DPS mains or perish.
I just don’t want to see Immort deleted. It’s incredibly necessary to tone down the ridiculous TTK this game has developed.
It’s also one of the most fun parts of his kit. But something sooner or later has to give with Bap. He does do too much. I’d much rather see this than anything else.
I mean of course baptiste does too much, as do ana. Since they’re both main healers. If we gut both ana and bap, then we would have no main healer, if that’s what tanks want. All other supports like Lucio, Mercy, Brigette and Zenyatta are picked for their utility. Most games have one main healer + one off-healer for utility.
Moira needs a buff or something though. Since even though she’s a mian healer, bap or ana is almost always a better pick.
I think he should keep his “Living Room” ability, but a 20 something second cooldown is stupid and I don’t think an ability like Rez or Lamp should exist outside of an ultimate ability.
20 seconds is either a really long time for sub-par trash, or way too quick for what can pass as an ultimate. They should move it to the ultimate slot and buff it however they want, because you have to work for it.
Maybe he could get a personal bubble ability, like the lamp follows a specific player and keeps them alive, since flashbang fan can only really kill 1 target. I think it’s dumb being able to block a well deserved Nuke with some ability.
I think it could work like an Orb of Harmony, but it should have a range limit so the Genji one-trick can’t go invincible and massacre the enemy from across the map.
Flash Bang is utter BS tho and I don’t think Defense Matrix should work on Ultimates because why the hell can D.Va accidently eat my well earned Blackhole?
As someone who plays paladins and knowing their struggles with giving heroes dr (damage resistance). I think any form of giving damage reduction should be done with caution.
What if his alt fire healed him instead of regen burst? There’s no logical reason it shouldn’t, and it does force him to choose between healing himself, his teammates, or doing damage. Regen burst allows him to do all three at once, which is kinda part of what makes him such a good duelist. Doesn’t need to stop dealing damage to heal himself. Forcing him to choose makes dueling as him more situational and risky.
The devs got Bap perfect in the April Fool’s patch by making the Lamp do fixed damage reduction instead of outright immortality. They teased us with a balanced Bap, then they ripped it away from us, but don’t worry, they kept the remech damage everybody asked for.
