One shots are in every game and are way more unfair

Valorant, Counterstrike, Call of Duty all have one shot snipers that don’t require headshots to one shot you.

Widowmaker takes extreme precision to one shot consistently. In other games they merely need their crosshairs on your chest or arm to kill you instantly.

New generation of gamers are extremely casual and have not played any of these games so they just don’t understand how much worse it can actually be.

The difference is in those games everyone is the same and everyone has access to those one shot weapons, overwatch is not like those games.

Imagine not understanding the kind of game OW is this badly.

But fair enough OP, let’s adjust OW so that it’s more like COD. No one starts a round being able to one shot (not even widow or hanzo) and over the course of a game, everyone (mercy, rein, winston, everyone) can acquire weapons that let them one shot.

As others have pointed out, those are different games. Not an abilities-based shooter (minus Valorant) and they’re more death-matchy than anything.

Widow takes mechanical aim but saying she takes extreme precision is incorrect since other games, including Call of Duty as you listed, include:

  • Limited ammo
  • Weapon sway
  • No free abilities for repositioning easily

Also, given how this game has targets with different hitboxes, your comparisons fall short on that.

Not really. Every single game that has snipers, have people complaining about snipers. People don’t like one-shot mechanics, even in the games you’ve listed, because people don’t like not being able to react to things.

Valorant and CS:GO are also odd comparisons entirely because people die incredibly fast with multiple guns, not just snipers.

This is just a alt account post by a sniper hater that can’t give it a rest keeps posting this bait posts.

So that people who think widowmaker stole their baby and hanzo kidnapped their cat.

Can come and rant.

Nothing to see here my fellow shimmadas and spiders.

Don’t feed them.

For the last time, Overwatch IS NOT a tactical shooter.

Stop comparing this game to a genre where combat realism is the focal point.

There is a simple reason why Overwatch cries so much about oneshots.

Overwatch attracted just at the beginning, and also still, many many non fps players.

Or we allow the semi realism to come in. Like pile drive is now a one shot. Or reins hammer causes concussions. Or sigma one shots with all primary attacks because he’s launching mini black holes. Or graviton surge one shots all caught because again black holes. This could be a lot of fun. Venom mine causing puking stunning characters for 10s. But the head hitbox goes up and down rapidly to properly simulate the vomiting. This could work.

And they have incredibly high prices in Valorant and Counterstrike, which both have other one shot weapons at far distances. And a lot of things like smokes, flashes and more. Also weapon sway, no reposition abilities for the sniper (excluding Chamber and I guess Yoru, not too familiar with new agents for Val)

CoD last I checked has maps which have areas designed to be strong for shotguns, where the dominant strat is to hold it with a sniper thanks to the one shot.

‘Extreme precision’

Ah yes. And it’s so fun.

Hilariously incorrect. One shot snipers are just a bad idea unless it’s in a game where other weapons also one shot rather reliably.

People like gameplay. Not gamestop. With a sniper, there’s no interaction. No back and forth. No give and take. You don’t get a tense fight where they get the drop on you and now you’ve gotta try and either get out of dodge, or flip it. No. They get the drop on you, and that’s it.

It’s boring, unfun, unengaging.

This game always has one thing or another that the community are blaming for why the game is so bad and call for it to be removed. For example, in the past one of these things was CC so they got rid of most of it ruining McCree and Mei and thus ruining the whole game for the people who mained them in the process. Now they have moved onto one shots.

If Widow and Hanzo do have their one shot removed and are ruined in terms of how fun they are to play, the playerbase will just go straight onto complaining about something else and asking for something else to be removed. It is why the game is in such a bad state, constant whining from players about one thing or another and devs making changes. We have lost so much unqiueness and fun due to people’s constant whining.

Unlike CC though which is a moba stuff if they remove one shots
1.the game will break fundamentally at core in many ways than even removing one tank, they will never get around to fixing the game.
Everything else will need huge reworks.

2.The elite fps crowd will move away from the game, they constitute atleast 8%.

Also widow is a shop hero with skins every season making bank for blizzard.

Qp casuals love playing widow even if they are not good at her in comp. She is always top3 in qp over 7 years

3.The game will suffer fundamentally and financially.

4.One shots are free marketing material and eye candy of fps games, what people like to see are these big plays which is why sojourn in season 1 of ow2 was popular to watch.

Every day overwatch reddit is filled with widow hanzo one shot potgs with dva bombs.
YouTube Twitter and tiktok are filled with these plays.

People like one shots and big plays.

Removing one of the most organic marketing aspect of your game would be the dumbest decision blizzard  can make.

But given this community and current trend I wouldn’t put it past them

I’m actually at the point now where I WANT them to remove one shots because it will be hilarious to see what the whiners go on to campaigning to have removed next once they realise that they got rid of one shots yet the game is still awful.

Difference between those games is that on OW2 widow can sit halfway across the map while getting lifegripped, suzu’ed and bubbled.

In Valorant you can oneshot her with automatic weapons across the entire map just like she can do to you (In overwatch Soldier can’t oneshot widow this is overwatch not valorant.)

Valorant also has smokes you can deploy to completely block off a snipers line of sight we don’t have those in overwatch in valorant snipers don’t have a movement ability every 12 seconds in Overwatch they do.

And personally I hated snipers in those games too and I was decently high rank in both CSGO and Valorant and I’m high rank in Overwatch although I haven’t played COD much so cannot comment on that game.

Are you saying OW players can’t press H and pick Widow/Hanzo/Soj/Ashe?

60% of all players in every game can’t.

20% (Tank) just shrug off the 1 shot, the other 40% though not as potent, can still pick Zen, Illari, Kiriko for low tkk.

The real reason these people complaining about 1 shot because they themselves don’t have ability nor skill to handle 1 shot weapons anyway.

Yet it’s more annoying then in any of those games.

Wrong. Only 40% of all players in any game have the ability to select ranged one shot heroes. You want to make this game more like COD? Fine, allow all heroes to gain the ability to one shot.

Of course you won’t agree to that, because you don’t actually want OW to be like COD, you want to play widow or hanzo in a game where one shots are easier to get value from than they are in a game like COD

Isn’t 40 percent already almost half of the lobby?

Anyway i wouldn’t worry too much about fighting against players who complaining about 1 shot, especially if they have to pick a hero like Widow or Hanzo.

I get the feeling you don’t really understand the point I’m making. Re-read my first post and respond again.
