I HATE PLAYING WALKING SIMULATOR FLASHPOINT. Please revert the leaver penalty or at least let us vote on maps. I have no idea why Blizzard thought that making the new game modes “Walking Simulator” or “Death Stranding” was going to be a fun experience. Everytime this game mode comes up on my screen I leave instantly because it’s boring having to walk 1000 miles like Vanessa Carlson.

Well, well, well I’ve got news for you: that doesn’t penalize you. You can leave any match that isn’t in progress yet and still in the hero select phase. I do it myself too but only during hero select phase. So it seems you need to grow a spine and stop leaving those matches that are already in progress.
There is a period where hero select time is over but where you are still in spawn for about 30 seconds and where you can still change heroes, if you leave during that you’ll get penalized.

Doesn’t that not apply if you get backfilled into a FP match?
So like, player A doesn’t want to do FP and they leave at setup, gate comes down, the slot gets backfilled. Player B realizes it’s FP and leave as well. Player A is safe but Player B takes an infraction.

The amount of people that don’t know this is astonishing. Overwatch has so many things like that , that you think 90% or more of the players would know … and then its barely 50%.

Because the point of adding a player to the game is that player to cover for a leaver. If any backfiller was allowed to leave without penalty, then Backfilling is pointless.

The rules are very simple: you can leave ANY match that is still in the hero select phase and isn’t in progress yet. A backfill is a match in progress so no, you cannot leave that without penalty.
Backfills suck, i don’t like them either but that’s just simply how it is.

So you can leave a map you hate as long as you’re not backfilling for someone who did the same thing.

Since the penalty for leaving matches was introduced, I leave matches more often than I used to.
I don’t like the idea of someone trying to force me to do things in the game that I don’t enjoy.
I couldn’t be enthusiastic about WoW back then for the same reason, because there were these pointless and boring weekly tasks that you had to complete.
Apparently the WoW development teams knew this and improved the game by a lot when a very large proportion of players stopped playing.
If they don’t want players to leave the games, they need to make them more balanced and entertaining. They need to hire people with innovative ideas and start being honest about matchmaking and anticheat.

A lot of us have been beating that same drum ever since the leaver penalty got implemented. Are there serial leavers that leave because their ‘lobby shopping’? Sure. But it’s not the majority. If the matchmaker would pair people up properly, closer to their skill levels, this would be a whole different ballgame.
The trouble is getting blizzard to care enough to make proper tweaks, and of course fighting with others who seem to think the matchmaker isn’t the core issue which….hey, more power to you, but imo their wrong.

You have to leave before you are able to controll a hero. So that hero select screen before loading in.

i don’t i leave as soon as that screen comes up and now i have the red bar up saying if i leave i get a penalty lol. I leave immediately so i can avoid that but it doesn’t work
weird, ive yet to get a penalty for that and ive definitively left more then 4 at the start
Theyre literally the only matches I leave
I dont know what to tell you, I do it, and many other do it without geting the 10 min penalty.

Those are the best modes, that’s for sure
That said, if you leave immediately the leaver penalty doesn’t even kick in. You just have to be quick about it.

I agree with the flashpoint critique, it is for the most part horrible to walk from spawn, same thing with Push. It’s uhhhh not good. Aaand of course a map selection would easily be a morale boost for everyone involved, just the thought of being able to play in Oasis more than once a day is beautiul.
Btw, try playing the game sometime, you might win

Because there is a difference between leaving a game before it starts, and leaving one mid game.

Very little. You’re still leaving your team short a player at the start. You’re just abusing the system without being penalized for it
