The perk where Winston does more damage to deployables counts all non-player entities(except probably Bob) I’m pretty sure
So he does more damage to barriers with it, which can be pretty nice. Not sure if any or many noticed that, so figured I’d spread the word.

I find Winston’s shield and deployable buff to be hilarious because it like a super counter to Brigitte. Not only do you zap through her shield, you destroy her shield faster, AND you can self heal for 30hps when she can only do 70dps.
Its like can I have a shotgun support yet?

Ok but you gotta get thru the brig player first
Also, his beam still ignores armour, right?
You’d better make sure to land that Whipshot on the incoming scientist, Brig…

Yeah, it does sound pretty gnarly for Brig specifically lol
The only way Brigitte can reliable counter a Winston is by starting high ground and whip shotting him off the ledge. If you fail to do that, then you really haven’t done anything to him.
I will say however that getting +35 hp bonus on critical hp targets and 7sec inspire duration does help other allies duel him. You pretty much have to whip shot + 180 deg dash away every single time away from him.
At least she’s still a good anti-ball.

huh… odd that i havent seen any winstions with that idea floating around
Deployables are hero niche. Its like the thing you pick up if you wanted to get around Torbjorn or something. Taking more damage on primals rage to help juggle and kill squishy heroes is a better play.
His weapon ignores barriers though? So how can he do more damage when he never damaged them originally.
It’s not something that I actively keep track of because I don’t play Winston much and generally I don’t try to block Winston with a barrier for obvious reasons, but doesn’t Winston’s beam both go through barriers and damage them? Like it’s a cone attack that straight-up damages everything in it, whether it’s barriers or constructs or grannies.
Now I’ve got the mental image of a QP Winston stepping in front of his team. “Stand down, men! I’ve got this!” He then verrrry slowwwwly whittles down Sigma’s barrier over an hour with RMB while everybody stops and watches.

Oh yeah its absolutely dumb when it comes to barriers. I guess its basically a perk vs Mei, Torb, Sym … not that you actually need a perk to blast those dudes away anyway

Unless this perk changes things on mechanical level, it will do nothing to shields as winston’s primary ignores them.
No, Winston’s primary still damages barriers, it just pierces them
Maybe for the last team fight or two. Anyone else having trouble building his perk levels? Even when I do well, I’m not getting my second perk for longer than the last few minutes of most matches.
To be fair, Winston perks are kinda broken.
More damage against every non player is free value. The bubble that heals everyone is also broken for 0 additional effort.
I really hoped Winston doesn’t get free value perks. He’s already mechanically easy to play.
The chain target one is a good idea, but situational. The primal jumping one is a nice attempt but also situational and makes his primal clunky.
Assuming there are more than zero deployables in the match to begin with…
And assuming anyone is standing in the bubble and it doesn’t get popped in 2 seconds…
Both are super situational, and pretty weak outside of the very best circumstances.
I can see we are not going to agree at all.
The bubble one is definitely not situational. It alleviates one of Winston’s biggest weaknesses, which is survivability and cooldown management.
Most of the time, Winston’s engagements and disengagements are about split seconds.
This perk gives him enough sustain on the frontline. Even a 2-second bubble is additional 60 health for him, which might decide the fate of a fight.
Not to mention other situations where he bubbles a squishy teammate to save him. Boom, at least half the health restored.
The primal one you can use after jumping but before using it. The meter starts building on the way down after you start the ult, so that can be free damage to start it off.
