One better thing about marvel rivals

Though gameplay and competitive wise overwatch is much better than marvel rivals …One thing I like about marvel rivals more is the unique melee abilities they put in game like iron fist ,black panther ,wolverine ,magik etc …I feel pretty fun to play magik with the sword …I feel like overwatch can at least give us a primary sword weilder hero …not like an ult like genji …that hero can also throw slashes from sword

You can hammer people with torb. That works pretty well in a game like OW right?

Rivals strength is that it does not try to be competitive and rather fun. It has a better comp system, better shop, will likely have double the heroes per year than OW and better BP.

Also: its been out for around 2 weeks now. You people need to chill out. Would not surprise me if seasonal changes are much bigger and better than in OW also…

Chill out about what? This person is just saying they want a melee hero in OW… did you even read the post?

the hero should be built in a proper way fir overwatch …see Rein, doom …there can be a hero who can grapple towards enemy and then use sword with extreme high mobility …from sword he can emit slashes also…many things are possible

I did, but did you read the first sentence? People always think the game is done and we are being in S0… not S1, but S0, so its pretty much open what will hapen.

As for the melee character, it will not work in OW, because how OW is designed. It would be something like old DF, that would either be broken or trash. No in between.

OW is mainly a shooter and Rivals makes it the more clear, that OW is a competitive shooter and therefore something like melee characters are not really bound to happen.

Oh yeah I guess I kind of forgot about doom and rein lol. So, they already have melee heroes…

You are just saying you want someone with a sword? I guess that could be cool. They should have a kung fu guy too

Arguably one of the reasons it is on a track to fail at the moment.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great game, but it is so poorly optimised. If it’s not aiming to be a competitive e-sports game, it really is demanding in terms of PC specs for such a cartoony looking game. Any casual gamer who hasn’t spent thousands on their PC will struggle to run Marvel Rivals on anything above 30-40 fps at most, and no game is fun when you’re constantly lagging.

Just look at the loading screen issue thousands are complaining about. I think you’ll find most people playing MR right now are not casual players (because casual gamers don’t have $1000+ PCs), and therefore the demand for balance and competitive play are going to increase.

oh come on, this seems exaggerated to me. we know that it will have to have a competitive aspect over time, even just from a home point of view. everyone starts out as inexperienced, but sooner or later the “comp vs qp” aspect will always come.

the only real difference it would have from Overwatch is that maybe a pompous tournament organization like the Overwatch League is not built, even if we must admit that on the tournament side Overwatch has “calmed down” enough in concentrating all the experience of the gamers on that system.

But could Marvel Rivals not one day propose its own e-sport? I doubt it. but in any case I disagree with the statement that it will not have competitive contexts for those who play at home. let even just 2 seasons pass, and you’ll see how we start talking about ferocious Metas. BUT… it all depends on Netease in managing to coordinate everything or not, let’s not forget that they have to demonstrate that they can manage the freedom of choice that they have given to the players without too many restrictions.

ya something with dual sword with extreme high mobility and can throw ranged projectiles also from sword …like zhin from paladins

I prefer they didn’t. OW2 is much more of a shooter than MR is and that’s fine. I wouldn’t want either to copy each other when it comes to hero design.

Iron fist is broken in Marvels. They don’t care because its new and playing broken heroes keeps people coming. Overwatch is 8 years old and tries to balance.

not hero design …but to build variety they can bring a sword hero …most heroes have gun and it got boring

Melee and Projectile are actually functional in MR. There’s multiple flyer units in the game, and they’re not super oppressive just because you don’t have to have hard-burst hitscan to take them down.

But think about the poor supports that can’t stand confrontation. :joy:

Why not both? A kung fu sword master!

That would be super cool

Allot of characters also have a quick melee three hit combo, like Groot who will knock up on the third hit. Hanzeye…I main Hawkeye, has a quick melee that can actually deflect projectiles if you time it right.

You can tell the overwatch veterans cuz they are the ones using quick melee.

Easy way to solve this. Make the hero a support. After all dps are good at handling confrontation.

Oh please, these are literally the examples why you don’t want to have melee characters in a shooter (maybe besides black panther). Iron fist is literally the most hated hero in that game currently. Magik is either underperforming or annoying AF. Wolverine doesn’t even function without a support 24/7 pocketing him, but if you buff his damage he will also be annoying AF. Melee characters in general are balance nightmare in shooter games.
