Ive been sitting in diamond 4 comfortably for a good number of 5 win moments. I have one bad session and the game drops me to plat 3. WTF? My avg skill should hold up enough that it doesn’t drop me that hard. If im losing to diamond tanks or even master tanks then why am I a plat tank because of that?

It looks like it was 4-15 spread out. No loss streak ever got that long.
as in 4 wins 15 losses?
The effect of losses on ranks is insane, especially when so many of these games are so close that they are effectively a tie. I just got done a 0-0 payload game where the enemy team managed to just push the cart slightly further and because of this I get a big fat L which means that my chances of ranking up in the next 5 games is basically nil. People don’t like playing games where they cannot progress.
Agreed I had one bad session on dps where I went 3-15 and it dropped me from plat 3 > gold 3 all in one update. It took me almost a week of grinding after that just to finally make it back into plat. I don’t think it should ever drop you more than 3 divisions even if you go 0-15 because anyone can get an unlucky sesh of games. Under the old system that is about 350 SR but under this one it’s more like double that amount.
keep in mind that the reverse is true. win streaks can drastically boost your mmr and hidden sr very quickly.
this is a terrible system, one they removed or altered in 2017 because it had a negative effect on comp, but here we are lol

Its not. Its a pile of garbage in terms of matchmaking, rating, and overall experience. A box of chocolates filled with interesting flavors but half have someone’s fluids on it so is it worth tasting it?
yup. I had tons of 5-3 sessions and it only ranked up 1 tier. Today i had real bad session 3-15 first time ever in my ow life and de-ranked 10 tier. GM4 to M4. The game is not even team game, its more luck meta. Whoever gets better player wins game. So Simple
