Omnics DO NOT Deserve Equality

They are robots made in huge omniums not controlled by humans. They are robots. Robots.

Let me repeat this one more time.

Robots. Omnics are robots.

They do not count as human life. They will advance past humanity and much like how we step upon ants, they will step upon humans. God AI’s prove that.

Mutual peace is acceptable but one must always be wary and never get too comfortable. One must allow themselves to be given genetics enhancements and cybernetic augmentation in order to match an omnic or multiple should it come to that.

Anubis, the “god program”, was taken care of by Overwatch. Even if they aren’t around anymore, someone else will be able to take care of it, same as before.

Omnics and humans can live in peace - Mondatta was trying to show that. He was trying to change the minds of people like you and make the world a better place. Not all omnics want to oppress humans, most just want to be acknowledged and have the same rights as humans.

i could try to explain why you’re wrong but it’s too complicated and i’m lazy. so i’ll recommend you play the mass effect trilogy instead and pay attention to what EDI and legion say in ME3.

i used to think like you as well. “they are just machines! they are tools, not unlike a computer or a cellphone. we created them to serve us. they don’t have feelings. they are not people.”

and then mass effect made me realize that the human brain is just an organic machine, and the “feelings” that make us people are just chemical reactions. we were programmed by nature, and they were programmed by us. their software is perfectly capable of replicating emotions caused by chemicals, they can feel.

Yes, this.
And about the stepping upon human part, that’s probably caused by glitches and someone plotting behind.
Human can glitch, too, we call that mental illness. And ww2 German was a good example of what happens when massive amount of human gets controlled by higher ranked beings: massacre.

Yes. But that is my point. If humans and omnics/robots lived in peace, at what point would the omnics/robots realize that they are vastly superior to humans and that they don’t need the humans at all. There is no guarantee that wouldn’t happen and while a majority maybe might advocate for keeping humans around, I doubt most humans would want to live in fear of that.

Furthermore, would you want to have to accept that you, the beings that created something equal or greater to yourself is now at the whim of that very thing? Would you want to accept that the only reason you are allowed to exist is because of the kindness of a being that in no way is weaker than you? It would be disgusting. There would be divides, abuse, oppression, and other stuff that would come from allowing omnics/robots to exist peacefully with humans for an extended period of time.

This is the very concept that Overwatch as a narrative can tackle very loosely on seldom occasions.

Wow, if this was not a game I would have an r word for you.

Anyways, they have clearly shown to be self aware and all that signs of life jazz.

I would assume you would be that one guy in the “Measure of a Man” episode of Star Trek: TNG

dont watch star trek lmao and im not gonna look it up. and im just saying my side cause its a fictional universe and we all get to brainstorm the situations as if they could happen irl ️️️ win your games!!!

If they think and feel like humans, then they are our equals and should be treated as such… and we have Zenyatta to prove that Omnics can have human-level sentience.

Omnic Rights or riot!! ୧༼ಠ益ಠ༽୨ ୧༼ಠ益ಠ༽୨

The whole argument about whether Omnics should have equal rights or not in overwatch is whether they have souls or not, whether they feel emotions because they have souls or not. Until it can be proven true or false, there isn’t any reason to deny them rights.

You can’t even prove that humans have souls.

well yeah, but I didn’t make write the lore for Overwatch, I didn’t say it was a GOOD reason, It’s just the reason in the lore.

Reminds me of Humans (TV Show) and Detroit: Become Human (game).

Even without rights, by law there should be protection in terms of property treatment/damage as an object to their owners. It would be awesome to see the Onmic rights movement more as seen in Kings Row.

I doesn’t matter if they are like humans. They are robots. They are metal. Not flesh and blood. They can surpass humans physically and intellectually. They can become far better and realize they don’t need or want us. Then they can kill us with such ease and efficiency. They could be humans extinction event.

You know what would really tick them off and make them want to kill us all?

Humans not treating Omnics as equals and forcing them to live as an oppressed minority. Being treated like dirt will tick anyone off.

So how about trying to be nice first and not provoke them?

Since you set Moira as icon, you might wanna know her opinion about this topic?
Moira on Kings Row: “The government here has such a medieval view towards Omnics.”

you actually sound like the catalyst in mass effect 3. “there can be no peace.” why not?

by this logic, right now, humans are “better” than all other species on earth. but we still don’t kill all these species on a whim, just because they are not as smart as us.

we have driven some species to extinction, but it was due to our stupidity, not due to actual intent of killing them all.

the onnics would have no reason to kill us all like you fear, especially not it they were as intelligent as you claim. real intelligent people don’t become genocidal maniacs.

Or shut them all off or reduce the capabilities of their intelligence or restricting their physical prowess so they don’t even have the option to hurt anyone.

So killing sentient beings and their sense of self by force because of a perceived threat, instead of working towards peace and coexistence?

You must be fun at parties.

Question: It sounds like you have issue with them being made of metal. Why?

Their ability to multiply, advance, and take over is unquestioned, and they may be a big threat to us, but what does them, “being robots” have to do with it?

I’d understand the concern of a simple program going rouge and taking over; thoughtlessly killing and consuming (Horizon: Zero Dawn) but this is about robots which supposedly did gain sentience. So does the fact that they’re robots lesson their value?
Sort of like us, they’ve become something, special. Humans are blobs of meat that evolved brains.

What really matters is how the robots define success. Are they evolving to take over, or coexist-and they believed it was impossible?

They could expand into a force that seeing humans as small, and simple, like we see, cows, but how do they define success? Acting in a way that is mutually beneficial, or total control?

omicist! you omicist, you say orisa cant be a hero!!
