Okay seriously im getting annoyed losing games because my team absolutely refuses to unglue themselves from the point. At what rank does this stop?
Just played as Rein on Meka Base. Take point move back to high ground to try and keep them from retaking. Turn around entire team still on point. I get told I’m over extending.
Do lower ranks seriously not understand controlling space? Its NOT controlling the immediate area of the objective. The point is to control a majority of the map limiting the enemy teams ability to come back and re-take the point or objective.
the other one I get ALL the time. After getting payload in kings row. Going under the arch to the first corner. Again NOT over extending but every team I play with believes it is and just refuses to move forward.
Most importantly the tank pretty much cant over extend of the rest if the team is playing correctly. For the most part outside suicide charging and the like.

It is impossible for Rein to overextend. That is just dps and healers failing to hit w.

Yeah I agree. Im a giant with a ton of HP a massive barrier and a giant hammer. Why would you NOT follow me?

Not a giant though. His limbs don’t match. I think Rein is Torb’s size if he gets out.

Now that I think of it. This may be one of the reasons you see such fast streamrolls in low ranks. You get these super passive teams that dont take any space then they expect the other team to be doing the same. If the other team is aggressive its just a slaughter lol

Same every rank , ranking system and matchmaking is broken.
That being said, you also get those good game. Where team are evenly matched.
Just for those match I keep playing and dont care about rank anymore.

Yeah im kinda with you on that. It seems like it means very little right now in all honesty.

Over extending is when you’re on push and your tank and 1 or both DPS think all because they won a single fight that means they are good enough to spawn camp the enemy.
There is no point winning a fight if you aren’t gonna push the robot, which usually results in 1 or both supports having to sit and push it while the rest of your team is without healing, fighting a 3v5, they die and the enemy takes the robot. How hard is it to just push the objective without being greedy?

I had that same exact thing happen in the first week or two of OW2, on the same exact map.
It’s infuriating.
I try and remember to constantly look back; I’ve seen other tanks fearfully do the same, for the same traumatizing reasons.

LOL its true. If you have a halfway decent tank, to the DPS and supports seeing this, watch how often they do the quick turn to see if theyre solo or not lol
making space is super important in this game now. as soon as you cap your point/payload you hold w and keep em back as long as possible,if your starting to get overrun then you fall back.
playing support atm, aslong as the tank has brains and actually looks back before storming in then im with you keeping you up.
We had a match where our rein would charge into the 1 v 5 around a corner. Get 1 pick and die. We never had a tank with us the whole time.
We lost easy. He got POTG and typed “team diff”.
Space is not the same as overextending.
Space is moving from corner to corner. Making it possible for your healers and dps to engage the next fight.
Overextending is Rein charging or Genji jumping over a wall before the team can get to the fight.

This is an OW2 thing. In OW1 even low silver were pressing them after taking the point. I’ve even seen this in gold in OW2. I expect it is just an influx of new players still learning the game.

As a filthy gold support I’d say it’s less about understanding space and more about worrying that my team lacks the mechanical skill to actually take that space, so stalling the objective becomes the more reliable way to win. Only if I see someone on my team pop off do I trust them enough to follow along.
All Im saying is this is what happens to non aggressive teams when I have a little backup. They get the space shatter. Never underestimate the power of the space shatter. Also this was POTG after the cut I finished off the rein and then cleared out the Junk and something else but I left that part out lol
Not sure what one good shatter is supposed to prove…? That high ground is useful? We all know that. The rest of your team was doing a good job as well. If your Widow wasn’t clicking heads and hadn’t got the pick on Ana at the first choke you’d probably have run into certain death. What is and isn’t over extending is entirely dependent on the capabilities of the entire team.

Yeah thats my point exactly. Im not used to playing with teams that think passing a choke is over extending. Its only since OW2 ive run into this issue. Point is if you have a team thats playing OW and not babysitting you can dominate games. In the current system as a tank you have games like this then you have games where your team may as well just sit in spawn and stay out of the way. But those are the ones that essentially do nothing then blame me for trying to actually gain some map control. This is just funny though cause at this rank even the smallest bit of support and I can just run around the map cracking heads with a hammer.
Making your teammates earn your support is toxic behavior and objectively the wrong way to play the game. This is why you’re Gold.
If I see my teammate run somewhere the others will not follow, and they have consistently not been able to get kills during the match then I will absolutely not feed the enemy with them. There are 3 other people being useful who need my attention more. That is called target prioritization. Also we have free health packs on the maps.
