Old VS New Scoreboard

I think IMO the old scoreboard fits a lot better than the new one and heres why:

The old scoreboard was simple, you had just the information you needed and it was clearly visible, your team and enemies composition and your team ults. The medals aswell obviously. But thats it, you didnt have to worry about anything else.

In the other hand, now, with the current scoreboard, its so complex in the way that theres too many useless information that we dont acctually need to see. People see data from the scoreboard that can be used against you when you do poorly.

So adding the old one back or a similar one can reduce the amount of toxicity, and it would just be easier to read while playing.

I haven’t played a lot of Rivals season two. One reason why is that they decided to drop everyone nine ranks, and that stuck me back at the bottom of silver.

The reason I bring this up here is that in Rivals, there is information missing from the in-match scoreboard: there’s no indication of how much healing the supports have done.

And let me tell you, in my experience that introduces a TON more backseating in low ranks than OW’s scoreboards because it gives ragers an irrefutable attack on their teammates.

No. No, thank you. I like being able to prove that I have, in fact, done some healing as support. As a bonus, I also like being able to see that the Genji being toxic is batting 2-16.

PS: One of my final games in OW1 QP featured an Orisa who flamed me and the other DPS for not being gold on damage done. She was just straight up lying because I had gold, not her. Toxic people are going to be toxic regardless of anything else.

Even if people prefer the older simpler design of the scoreboard, you have to admit that the ow 2 scoreboard looks like it was done in 10 minutes. Like its actuall wack. Besides of the data the design is very poorly done and it would be better to do a rework.

This is so funny to me as an OW1 player. As if people weren’t toxic because they had “x” medal. Of course they were toxic. They just were toxic towards random people based on feelings alone, at least now there’s some grain of truth in their toxicity. Still often wrong, but less often now than before. You said it yourself: when you do poorly.

Basically I am choosing between inevitable toxicity being targeted towards random people or towards people who do poorly, and I choose the latter. New scoreboard is better.

Disclaimer because I know this place: I’m obviously not saying toxicity is okay. But it’s a fact that it exists and existed just as much before we had a scoreboard.

Yes but anyways the scoreboard its self is so poorly designed, look at my past comment on this article

Oh, sure, I’m not going to defend the interface in general. For example, we’re something like two years in to OW2 by now and hitting Esc still pushes me towards the main menu instead of opening up options there and then. So I have to mash the button and go back to the main menu to change settings for no good reason. Or how I can’t press the endorse key to close the endorsement menu down any more.

YES!! WHY DID THEY DO THAT?!

Like… they made it worse for literally no reason at all :sob:

That might be true, though I haven’t had any issues with it. But I’m never opposed to making something better as long as we keep the core of it (showing elims/deaths/dmg/healing). You’re right that it certainly doesn’t look like much time went into it

thats exactly my point. Show whatever neccessary without too much data but redesign is indeed needed

No, we should not go back to the old scoreboard, because it wasn’t a scoreboard, it was an ego multiplier.

If anything, the scoreboard needs more stats, like “healing received”.

I’d like to see “players saved” in the scoreboard. That’s the mirror of elims and where much of the support value is provided.

They should move scoreboard to end of the game and add OW1 scoreboard when the match is played.

DAMN thats acctually smart af. That be cool af.

Everything about Overwatch 1 is a lot better compared to Overwatch 2, outside QoL changes for certain heroes, but it is refreshing playing classic mode

thats completely true

No the old scoreboard was much less toxic because people were blaming the entire team rather than focusing on 1 person.

But my real complaint is that if scoreboard is gonna stay in the game the they should add much more stats like healing recieved, damage taken, or objective time.
the scoreboard just doesnt fit in team based games
