After seeing almost 1-2 threads a day about her ranging from calling her useless to saying she only needs a slight tweak. The consensus seems to be she is very misunderstood in how to play her and I never experienced any problems with her even thought it’s just in QP. I got POTG often, I saved lives and I helped move the flow of the fight but the last week or two, I’m not sure what happened, either I’m playing against better players in general who are smarter or I just fell off a cliff. Most of my games now I’ve become much more fragile and things that used to work or should work no longer do.
I love the character very much, to me, she’s perfectly designed in how she can act like a tank and heal. She resonates with how I love to play that no other hero can match so I always feed the need to defend her from people who say she plays a certain way that I disagree with. I don’t even believe she’s a “backline” or “frontline”, she just kind of goes where she is needed similar to dva. A helicopter parent of sorts. If anybody wants to, the replay code 77R8QT is a good example of what I mean. I also welcome any input from anyone that can see where I’m coming from and see how I can stop dying while still doing something. Even when I play smart and use my tools, there’s no longer openings where I can guarantee kills or back out safely like there used to be. I don’t want her to change at the core and I take a sort of pride in spending those dozens of hours going from 0 to as smart with her as I do because the progress was noticeable by a wide margin so I want her to stick to her guns but at the same time, it’s starting to become harder and harder to go into a fight with any kind of confidence anymore. I die more than twice as much as I used to and it’s “tilting” without any negative connotations about it.
I don’t enjoy playing a different playstyle. I don’t enjoy DPS (I’ve been trying to do Reaper since they’re the closest but it doesn’t feel as rewarding). I don’t belong there, my only backup is using D.Va as a brawler and that’s a good bandage. Everyone has a lot of different suggestions and advice, most make me scream NO. Such as removing her kits for more AoE. I don’t want to lose what makes her unique. I can’t do the same results with her as Lucio for example as many claim to and I don’t want her to be a Tank Lucio.
Thanks for reading and it would be nice if we had a Brigitta general to keep all of the other threads about her consolidated.
I do believe, Brig suffer from a poor design choice.
yes, its interesting hero, but she will always be: overpowered or underpowered. Her entire kit dont allow a proper balance point
yeah the inspire feels flawed, have to deal damage to heal but she’s so squishy that running up to people to get the proc is rough.
if the enemy is all poke heroes, you have to swap off
if the enemy has one-shot heroes, you have to swap off
if the enemy doesn’t pick any flankers, you have to swap off
just too many counters atm, moira is just as good as brig and you have an actual invuln/escape over shield bash
you have to swing 6 times to land a kill, moira just has to right click you for 4 seconds
I disagree a little bit. I’ve been on par with healing on the SB (Take that as you will) with every other healer most of the time. I love the design, the less heroes with guns the better. She has her thing in brawling. Just like how Mercy and Kiriko have ways to survive with GA and Teleport, I think she needs something to survive just a bit more so you have a better sense of “I’m in, did a fair bit and now it’s time to get out”. I think my biggest issue is going after tanks and she uniquely should hold up a bit more to them. But yea, she’s a REALLY delicate balancing act but I think she just needs one main thing to make it right but even I wouldn’t be able to imagine what that would be. It’s hard to guage what is a “skill” issue and what’s just simply putting SO much effort for so little reward compared to anyone else.
were you around when brig launched? She was a beast, the entire meta was build around her. And thats the problem, by design, if she gets too tanky she shreds every nontank hero
In my controversial opinion, the whipshot is an amazing design for that and is the perfect thing to handle pokes. I can accept having to REALLY dedicate time to land whipshots and the cooldown is short so it’s feasible to maneuver cover, boop, and fall in. Most of the time. I’m developing a bad habit of getting greedy but sometimes it’s starting to feel like she’s SUPPOSED to be due to being a brawl comp. In a fight, you can whipshot/bash/swing and that surprises a mei before they hide in ice or a Reaper before they go into their wraith form. I don’t think her problem is in those scenarios and she’s supposed to GET in a fight, not start one, at least to me. The problem is lasting less than she does in that fight. I remember being smart about picking off the right hereos that were focused on me and with the help of a tank, clearing the area around the payload. But now more people seem to be wise about gunning you down in a second.
Overwatch 2 has become a game of cat and mouse between dps and support, but turning Brigitte (a melee character with shield) into a fragile mouse who has to run away from everything doesn’t make any sense. At the very least she should be able to survive oneshots, her shield shouldn’t have movement penalty, and it should cover a wider area. Also rework Rally it’s far inferior to Sound Barrier.
I wasn’t but I researched all I could find about it and probably for the best if I had to unlearn anything. You’re completely right and that’s what makes it complicated. I rather she be able to just stay alive longer since I don’t think she doesn’t do enough damage.
Most, if not all, OW balance problems comes - for me - from a design problem rather than a number problem. By design i mean how the entire kit of the character work, not how cool or how it makes sense to have said abilities. But from being able to do too much things at once. Brig is supposed to heal, but she needs to hit and she needs to survive. If she does too much damage, she outclass the dps, if shes alive for too long she works like an extra tank with passive healing.
See the problem? Her kit needs her to be able to do a lot of thing at once, and she cant excel in none, otherwise she breaks the game, again.
Launch brig did a lot of damage, lots of healing and was nearly impossible to kill
Brig right now suffers from hindsightitus. In hindsight the nerfs look great because it’s nerfing a hero that no one likes… but in reality she had too many nerfs to make her viable outside of highly coordinated gameplay. Which should not be the case for a support hero.
Those are some really nice ideas! Sorry I never saw the thread. I think the only reason a stun should exist are for Reaper’s Death Blossom and helping with Wrecking ball. Every other ult I never felt the need to bring it back especially since Brig can still stop charges. I LOVE the extra distance as has been a true godsend when getting back to my team from spawn. I think more focus should be on damage reduction than faster healing. You’re in the right ball park with that paradigm. I think that’s the path to follow is a way to bring out damage reduction so you still need some skill with her to bring it out rather than a hand out. For sure she NEEDS to not have a OHK happen to her from full so more health. I suggested before for her ult, she becomes the b0ngos that Orisa used to have in her ult. I’m mixed on the shield breaking since that would really tamper with balance. I would settle on not having a movement penalty and focus on herself having more health. I still want people to play right and not be lazy. The ability to know when you overstayed your welcome and need to bail out is a universal skill for OW and shield management is the crux of a good Brig player.
I always found myself trying to leave situations that I know and succeed in down, but shield kept breaking halfway as I shieldbash away, forcing to walk away slowly at the chance of being headshot… So that may be the reason of the 300 shield thing.
ive played about 25 hours of brig already and can say I have a supper good feel for where she fits into games, she still has great counters like ball and doomfist. I feel as tho her inspire(15h per s) is mediocre compared to repair pack (55h per s for 2 seconds) and let alone rally being double inspires heal rate in temp health. The passive just feels weak to me for being such a big part of the kit. personally I think they can shave off some heals from the armor packs and bump her inspire rate up a bit. Now I’m not asking for 25h per second but, 16.5 or 18, something like that to make it a little more impactful which would give people an actual reason to target brig which in turn allows brig more moments to shine and show that she isnt the d tier pick everyone says she is.
but im just a brig player idk
