So according to the Dev blog we are recreating some CC on two very strong heros who currently very good right now in terms of their roles.
Mei was very strong already but is about to get a whole lot worst for everyone caught in her Beam, except…Genji, because he can dash out, Tracer, who can blink out, Sombra, who can translocate out. And Reaper, who can wraith out
The Mei buff will mostly hurt us tank and DPS players who do not have the options to just teleport out of range. This was an unneeded buff to a hero who is performing very well right now.
Then we have Mccree. Okay first off why?! Mag nade needed some changes but why give him a slow and a movement cripplying pseudo hack effect on top of it? There is no mention that they intend to remove the homing capability of the magnade, which was half the issue with this mindless skill, the lack of aiming or managing it correctly. The other was taken care of which was the ludacrious dps a single magnade did to a target.
The hinder effect is going to be absolutely annoying and the slowing effect was really unneeded. Mccree can shoot 12 shots back to back and only needs two headshots to down a 200 health hero, which many Mccree players can already do efficently. Giving them a slow only makes them more potent and scary since Mccree already gets a ton of value even when barely hitting heads with his weapon due to just his weaponry spam and the threat of headshot two taps. He really did not need more.
These two changes baffle me because the ones who counter mobility heros and slow down their aggressice fast paced play styles have always been torbjorn and symmetra. Both of which have been ignored heavily and gutted.
Sym is now OW2’s WM1 Pro from TF2 and gets massive value off of it with barelt any mind to her turrets. Torbjorn has some of the most egregiously long cooldowns in the game that his kit feels super awkward for such a fast paced game like OW2.
Easily enough Devs. Just lower Torb’s cooldown and lower Sym’s overall beam charge dps so she doesn’t just run at everything looking to melt them without her turrets.
If you bring back defensive dps heros they will do their jobs better. Why add CC and make these strong heros stronger when you have good hero designs that just need refurbishing to do their original jobs better to help counter mobile heros?
