i didn’t realise it, but i just had a venture hiding behind a door, walked into a corridor
i walked into the corridor with about 265hp give or take (had overhealth from brigs ult)
got drill dashed, m1 and melee’d in half a second. i didn’t realise it was this bad. i retract every single time i defended them. the burst is still way too high

240 damage for that combo btw.
Getting hit with burrow, and dash + 1 primary shot does like 280

Told you. Told all of you! No one believed me! I still do this. And jesus its potent.

If Venture catches you with that burrow attack and you’re DPS or Support, you’re flat out dead unless you have an instant cast invuln.
Every time it’s:
Burrow.
Emerge.
Dash/Shoot.
Shoot/Dash.
Kills any DPS or Support and is very fast.
The burrow emerge is way too fast to get away from. Even if you react immediately, it’s going to hit you because the charge time is so incredibly fast. Even if you used Ashe’s coach gun once you saw it stop moving, you’d still get hit.

That is precisely why the counterplay is to avoid it from happening in the first place. Venture will very likely win if you allow them to close the distance. It’s the same as Reaper. You already messed up if homie is in your face.
The difference is that they can dig dug to close the distance for free and vaguely force a trade. I believe that is why a lot of people are complaining. It requires your team to peel and/or punish Venture and, well… Anything that requires teamplay to deal with is going to be really obnoxious to play against.

I’m very curious about Venture vs Moira’s matchup.
Is she the Moira of DPS?

It is far too strong! I can’t tell you how many times I’ll catch Venture completely off guard from behind, and then they’ll 360/combo my @$$ from full health to dead before I can blink an eye. WTF was the point of the health buffs?

its way way too much damage, and worse, none of it needs to even be aimed. all of it, no aim required, you can hit way way far away and still gets you
primary fire doesnt even need to be aimed, the splash on it is enormous

If ventures base attack damage was 60 per second and only hit one person at a time, yes.
But it’s higher than that. Venture does over a 100 damage per second with splash and knockback effect, being able to displace and hit seceral people.
Imagine moira from last season, but with cc on basic attack and twice the damage that she has. That’s venture. Kills you in 2 seconds. Moira needed 3.8.

It would only deal 280 if you were at the centre of a full charge burrow and in melee range at the start of the drill dash. More likely than not this combo won’t even break 250 health.
So she has higher stats than Moira, but is it consistent? As in Moira has to avoid dueling with Venture, even the tiktok Moiras?

Yep primary cancel drill dash into primary cancel melee is an instant delete button. DPS doom design.
That’s because they will have done a primary cancel into the dash, which isn’t something you can see or hear even as the Venture doing it.

Not to mention the horrible cc and juggle

The ideal combo would be like burrow shoot dash shoot melee. While its a little slow it does have a great deal of features that make it insanely easy to pull off which is the only thing that bothers me is having a kill combo that’s too easy. Even if it does use all resources.
The burrow itself doesn’t even require a full charge. Just enough for a little dmg and CC into the air your target making their travel predictable. Do the shot from the air for a fairly reliable 80dmg or ~45-50 dmg for offcenter.
Dash towards them further force their trajectory and be set-up for a point blank shot into melee finisher. The amount damage that imparts on top of 325hp from Venture with an invincible approach and insanely low skill floor makes this difficult to deal with.
The only way to reliable deal with it is to never play heroes that can be locked to the ground. Which further throws up mobility into OW all the time.

counterplay to things like this used to be one shot head shots and cc, but you all complained it out of the game. You reap what you sew.

Moira has to avoid venture.
Venture can kill her in 2 seconds, 2.5 if moira uses a health orb.
And each ability venture uses creates shields on them, so moira takes over 4.5 seconds to kill them
The primary fire from venture has such a wide splash zone that it is easier to land that damage than moira’s beam if the target is mobile.

Uh no…false equivalence; nobody asked for a hero with damage like Venture’s. Fighting low TTK with even lower TTK is just power creep.

Nah, the game removed nearly all burst combos to the point where none really existed. Brigitte used to be able to 1shot Tracer guaranteed, that was removed, now all Tracer has to do to escape it is a single blink on a 3sec timer or recall.
Even now with the increased health Brig can dump literally all her cooldowns and still not walk away with a kill. The burst combo out of Echo is very high, but very skill based with high accuracy requirements and the tricky nature of landing projectile aim, trishot headshots, and beam requirements <50% hp.
Venture’s a little different because all of the damage is fairly easy to pull off. There are aim requirements, but they are insanely lax. The difference between a good and bad Venture on this kill combo is not very different.
Echo is an amazing hero, but many people don’t hvae the skills to reliably burst stuff down.

you dont understand what a false equivalency is. because im not equating anything to anything.
for it to be a false equivalance there has to be a comparison.
Oh, but I do understand. You equated people asking for a nerf to burst damage to people asking for a new hero designed like Venture. Anyone who hated burst damage and one shots will not have asked for anything remotely close to this and you know it.
