Ok, I miss old Orisa

I might be in the minority when I say this, but I prefer old Orisa to the new one we’ve got now.

Someone on YouTube once said that Orisa’s current kit would be almost a perfect fit for a Greek or Spartan hero.

Both Orisae suck, but new Orisa sucks the hardest.

I Halt-pulled a mid-Slam Doom into the Sanctum pit on Nepal and laughed at him while he was locked into the animation watching him die instead of touch the pt in OT.

New Orisa I guess could Spear him, but I hate her and refuse to play her.

I wish that you could use old hero abilities in custom games… I would love to try out a version of Orisa where she has her spear abilities, but fortify is swapped out for Orisa’s legacy shield.

I would much rather play as and play against new orisa. I know it’s not a great comp, but after playing again some teams with both rein and orisa yesterday, I do not miss shooting shields all match.

I prefer new Orisa, her set more interesting. Siting behind shield is not fun

Old Orisa feels like a lot like Rammatra. Honestly, give Orisa his Ult and it’s very close.

My buddy is very nostalgic for old Orisa but I do prefer current Orisa. Halt was a very fun ability though.

You’d be surprised .

orisa at least is killable and cant survive everything, but one of the very very few good things ow2 bring us is orisa rework, is more fun and active, a rework made with a clear 6vs6 format in mind, not 5vs5 without shields

I did love old Orisa and probably prefer her to the new one, but new one is still definitely fun to play

So my take on it.

  1. Bring back OW1 ult as an ult I love it.
  2. Rework Javellin spin into her current ult so it sucks people in or eats projectile depending on how you aim it but it doesn’t have the impact damage of the slam or it’s reduced to say 50HP with no charge up time.
  3. Bring back halt for…reasons.

Don’t bring back the shield though…We don’t miss that.

I think she’d be fun as a sort of soft cc/anti-escape tank with halt and javellin!

I’m still of the opinion that the problem wasn’t the shield. It was the combination of barrier heroes who also had poke and additional sustain without enough counterplay available. Heavy barrier comps can pretty easily be solved by just having heroes and/or abilities that can do good shield-busting. Like Sym 2.0, despite her faults, was great against bunker comps because her projectile pierced right through barriers. So all the people huddled behind them were just taking massive damage.

They designed too many heroes without good tradeoffs and counterplay, so as soon as you amassed a couple heroes with those similar attributes, they start dominating.

Like of course Sigma+Orisa becomes a double shield meta when they both also have ranged damage without falloff that supplemented the usual lack of damage from a barrier tank, while also having secondary mitigation. If you look historically at other barrier heroes - Rein is melee range and also cannot attack and protect at the same time. Winston can protect, but has limited range and requires diving/engaging the enemy to make a play, and his barrier CD used to start when destroyed, not when placed. Original hero design had, IMO, better counterplay options that made the heroes have to really think about abilities usage instead of being able to spam things to get value from them.

honestly old orisa was kinda more fun atleast with some heroes i can remember the days you could sneak behind orisa’s barrier thing sticky the enemy team camping behind it and get back to safety some of the same tactics that was seen on ow1 isnt seen in ow2

I think a spartan type of tank with javelins spin, a spear stun, and with something like queen commanding shout, with a shield to block damage with to push space would be a VERY interesting tank design.

Sort of like a more flexible/mobile Reinhardt that mostly defended themselves instead of the big shield, but had more general mobility around the battlefield and had more flexible defensive support tools.

Maybe a short cooldown short range damaging dash attack as well for getting into engagements.

Old Orisa can drop an entire team into the Well of Ilios. Spear can’t do that.

I miss old Orisa as well. This Spear nonsense feels as if pulled out of the Black Panther movie. Wakanda forever!

Old orisa was alright, the problem was never orisa, it was always sigma and bap.

Bap making bunker uber cancer and sigma reinforcing that and morphing bunker into double shield put orisa in the line of fire.

Orisa’s old kit was so fun. My favorite ability was her Ultimate. The best team-up weapon ever created :smiling_face_with_tear: :handshake: :relieved:
