Yes, this is definitely the best event of the year. The other events are only for the skins at this point. I actually look forward to playing Archives.

I really hope they’re going to update the event again this year. I’m looking forward to maybe a Talon event this time. First year was Uprising, second year was Blackwatch, and maybe this year could be Talon?

This is my first time for this event. Do they let you play past ones too?

Yes they will let you play past ones too. The past game modes will just be available in Arcade, and you can queue from there.
