This is both in reference to Competitive and Quick Play, I can’t speak on behalf of Arcade cause who actually plays Arcade?
Just sat down for some Overwatch and thought I should warm up, so I jump into QP and immediantly suffer a leaver. “No big deal, someone will fill in a 30 seconds or so.” The entire game passes and we’ve failed to get past first point Junkertown because we’re still 5v6ing. “At least the leaver will be punished for wasting the time of people in the game and resulting in a much less enjoyable experience.” Nah, they’ll get less XP for a little while.
Of course we all know what XP gets us, loot boxes, and this just makes the punishment even funnier. Because, as we know once again, there are people that have literally stock piled loot boxes as they have no value what so ever to them outside of duplicates. However, even if you haven’t stock piled loot boxes or have literally every cosmectic in the game, this punishment is still an absolute joke as it doesn’t impede actual gameplay. It’s not a punishment in any way, shape or form. It’s just another little alert that pops up on someone’s screen before quickly being disregarded.
So, will Blizzard ever chose to change this and add an actual system that helps deter leavers from playing that one map they don’t like? I hope so. In the meantime, I’ll continue to sit and stare at the little black hexagon whenever I press tab and hope to Jeff that he joins and saves the day.
So why are there are so many diamond, plat, gold, and especially silver level portrait borders everywhere in the game, then? I’m seeing more and more people with diamond borders every day! How can this happen? If the impact of false reports is so great why aren’t these players being banned from accumulating so many reports after so long?
Honestly never had this happen. Not once. The only time I ever even got a warning for being reported was after I actually did say some bad stuff I’m not proud of. It wasn’t racist, but I was quoting South Park and people didn’t get the reference…
How is it the leaver’s fault? It was probably a tank player and no one wants to play this role.
So you want that guy to be suspended or even banned because he tried to leave a quickplay game? When he was playing a tank?
Stop being such a control freak. We’re already in a really awful world, how about you learn to relax? People play video games for fun, it’s not supposed to be a chore.
I’ve never experienced false report stacks like that.
If anything, I’ve seen people bandwagon-report bronze borders because they accuse them of being a smurf or cheater.
But regardless, I do wonder if “Avoid as Teammate” would be a more effective deterrent.
As frustratingly satisfying it is to have the same leaver rejoin the match 4 times in 4 minutes, I think if everyone avoided them, the very visual “Enough players have avoided you, ques may be longer” pop-up might make some reconsider leaving early.
I don’t leave or throw in Competitive play. but if it is Quickplay. It is all on Blizzard to get that mess sorted through.
I basically dump a match under the following conditions:
2 widows on opposite teams of one another.
Widow on enemey team
If it has a “stacker group” (which is like 88-91% of matches now), that exceeds 2 or more players.
A person that wants to RDM me constantly.
So here is the Full reason. At any rate…
1 )Two widows dueling needs to be 2 players in a custom match doing their own thing. I dont see the benefit of having 2 dps only going after themselves. It becomes a pointless 5v5 that we do not need.
2 ) Widow on an emey team - Someone’s going to swap and duel most likely. Again not a match worth my time.
3 ) Stackers outside of 1 team of 2 on each team. Usually it means me being bulllied by the enemy team, and on my side. The stacker group is not pealing for healers, or their healers are ONLY there to pocket them. THe match is a lost cause, just because they are NOT going to peal n heal to help others around them.
4 ) A player that just wants to “duel” me in general because I have a nice shiny gold portrait that with 1,000 or more hours on an account is supposed to mean im super good at the game. Which I am NOT, and in all honesty I dont always care about my matches and more than likely I plugged my headphones into my other laptop to listen to music so I don’t have to hear someone spamming “HAPPY HALLOWEEN” 10 billion times.
didn’t u play in like 2018-2019. Getting banned for having a veteran border was the thing. And it’s happened to me more than once. It’s less popular of an attack these days, but still exists.
So my point still stands keeping an account looking new is like being in disguise you may as well play with perma xp penalty unless you need lootboxes.
Your hidden rigging mmr goes down, so i guess that is consolation.
Getting hard stomped a few times and sticking through it probably makes the follow up matches a bit easier. And if it’s a “bad game” that you’re magically hard stomping them, you might want to leave so as not to get “mmr traded”. A lot of stacks are running pump-n-dump schemes where they offer their mmr onto unsuspecting targets.
Sorry it happened to you, but yeah. I’ve played since season 2, and never experienced it myself. Mostly seen people report new accounts in recent years.
I do agree that the earlier years had more antagonism towards higher borders, back when people thought it mattered. But I never saw it escalate beyond general frustration. Hopefully those stack-group players you mentioned aren’t playing the game anymore.
If both teams have stacks, finding replacements is less-likely…
Not when we have to Pay 2 Play. This discussion comes up a lot and the simple truth is Blizz aren’t going to ‘ban’ you from QP just for leaving when you’ve potentially spent $60 to play…
Wtf? Widow 1v1s are a lot of fun in my experience. Besides, you’re leaving out the other half of the fight. Once one of the Widows is dead, the other one can rain down hell. But you leave the second you see one on either team?
I absolutely despise Roadhog and Doomfist, but I’ll still play in the game. I have Alt+F4ed against them before, but not often and never in Competitive
