Mystery Heroes. No joke, this is the best practice mode. Being able to play every hero puts you at a huge advantage in this game. Just being able to play them all decently got me to GM for free back in open queue days, and switching is still important now for every role. People wouldn’t complain about counters nearly as much if they knew how to play more heroes.

Practice.

Tutorials and character guides help.

But ultimately it comes down to practice and learning from each match.

Basically know your heroes job, the best matchups, the best advantages on a map, who you counter as well as who counters you.

The rest is outside of your control so don’t take this game so seriously.

You do the job on your team and understand what your position is suppose to do then you will improve.

Lots of trainers in game. Many are community made. There are aim trainers, and parkour customs are great for learning movement.

Surefour says play Osu.

Doesn’t work for me, I’m a metalhead LOL

Don’t worry, I barely know what Osu is.

Dignity? Overwatch? That’s like asking to mix oil and water.

First step is know what role you want be play

Then explore the characters in that role and see which one best suits your natural playstyle

Once you find the character, start investigating how that hero relates and interacts with others

After that, its all practice; and workshops help a lot if your pick happens to be less intuitive than the average aim-based hero. Mercy, Moira, Lucio, Junkrat, Mei; most Mobility and Projectile characters are highly creative, and will demand a high investment in time for trully mastering their kit

That’s about it. See ya in 1000hs for checking on your progress xD

You focus on what it takes to win instead of only having fun

I.e. not having a 50/50 heal/damage split on Lifeweaver

I see you’ve been training my teammates.

You are playing Overwatch. It’s a crystal, not a genie

work on tracking, flicking, learn the map routes and perches, pick a few heroes u like, learn their weaknesses and avoid them, find their strengths and exploit them.
after a while its mostly mental,
in silver u literally just need to know how to shoot, have a general idea of what u can and cant fight and positioning, exploit highround, silvers dont look up
in gold if u are mechanicaly competent try to carry, good rank to explore plays, how to maximise ur ult and ability usage, lot of smurfs tho.
in plat ppl start to play well, see what they do what gives u trouble and think how u can deal with it or copy it.pay atention to enemy and team’s ults and ability usage and remember that main aint the only route
in diamond if u aint a smurf forget trying to be a carry like in gold, trust ur team more, play safe, dont be greedy try to not be predictable, these are good players and WILL punish u. know when to disengage and fall back

u will carry some games, u will get carried other games, u will be stomped repeatedly
. it takes time

this is what i learned but im a no aim no brain junk player

Something something duality of man

So basically an extreme strategy is better

1k hours with one hero will do the trick

This mode is the reason I talk :poop: about every hero. I was able to translate mh playtime on heroes I’d never imagine touching in comp and hit gm with them

for mechanics just practice the heros you like, and most importantly constantly think about your mechanics and how you can do better, think stuff like “if i strafed better here i mightve lived” or “if i aim for lower torso here i wouldve hit more shots”. and for game knowledge legitimately the best method is to mess around in the practice range and find weird quirks about how heros work, like just today i figured out that bastion ult always lands where you place it unless interupted buy an eat, so if you manage to place the ult midair like by placing it on a pharah it will detonate midair but if you place it on the ground beneath a pharah it will phase right through her. obscure knowledge like this can affect games but if dont find messing around in practice range fun then just watch vids and play random characters every once in a while, some knowledge you should look up like how other high tier players play certain maps i learned a lot talking with a top 500 player once on how to play samoa and immediately one of my worst maps turned to a map im positive on wins with

Ok first if you want to get better for rank you are doing it for the wrong reason.

Second overwatch was is always a fun game.

It was made by Dev’s who had zero experience in fps and wanted to make mmo heroes into fps heroes and somehow made the miracle happen.

Third wanting to improve on the hero you play is generally the best thing to be able to do cool stuff on them and have better challenge and fun doing them.

Outside that it’s not really important.
