Oddly stuck in silver

hey so i’m fairly new to overwatch but i know the game well enough to do fine averaging very well stats but my placement seems odd….i placed silver 4 but the past couple times i’ve done the 7 games i’ve gotten these: silver 1- gold 5- silver 1- gold 5- silver 1 and it’s honestly starting to aggravate me because i seemingly can’t escape these 2 ranks.

stats don’t tell the entire story, i used to play in gold as dps, i could have 25k dmg (well above average of gold) have 5 deaths and still lose the game or get told by my teammates im trash etc. Its your positioning, your flank timings when you flank, your target prioritization that will win you games as dps for example. High healing numbers in gold/silver also dont say allot because people in these ranks barely take cover so you will heal on average more in gold then say low plat. Even though the damage in plat is higher the target they shoot at wil die more often because hes out of position or gets focussed down for example or they simply connect 5/6 shots needed to kill the target instead of the gold player missing 3/6 then having to reload and find the target at full hp again.

Its also fine to not instantly climb you know, you build more gamesense and find diffrent ways to be even more effective/have even higher impact upon the game. Its also sometimes impossible to win a certain game because simply put the enemy team is just better.
In order words, take your time, have fun playing. My advice is dont look at your rank to much, try to improve as much as you can and don’t care about the rank your in. Its artificial. As long as you feel like your improving, that should be enough. Eventually you will climb.

yea lol i’ve had some absolutely insane games on dps like one after the other n sti’ll got deranked it’s very rough to play after that happens lol

I once spend 150 hours in quickplay because i couldnt win as ana in silver games even though i felt like i was good enough, it wasn’t enough to get consequetive wins. I played untill i was incredibly confident i could win from any genji in a 1v1 because id recieve no peel, i played and practice my offense nades, me shooting the target that got antied etc.
I practiced untill i got 4 mvp cards in a row with 90+% on fire. (meaning i was doing incredibly well the entire game according to the game)
Unfortunatly i did get allot better like allot, but also got my account banned 2 days later because i got toxic. Because again i got told i was trash by a rein who did nothing but pin who told me no healing who fed entire game long. Me and the other support combined healed 42k dmg in a 14 min game, threw every single resource we had in him in order for him to get some type of value and we healed 90% of the entire team damage taken. GG no heals rein said. So i got banned. I made a new account and got placed in plat 2580. I climbed after that to 2700 sr in 3 days.

hence i would say dont really look at your rank, just play and try your best. Maybe for now thats the skill you belong in as others are also getting better at the game/more people are playing the game. Getting better takes time and effort. You wont get drastically better over 7 games for example unless your suddenly hitting all your shots because you found a new aimstyle or a new dps that works better for you for example

@Siks7ate9 I understand what you are saying but there is definitely something wrong with the rank system. I am a plat player on tank (OW1) and I can’t get out of Gold 2. I’ve been playing every night for 7 wins and I would get hard stuck there. My friend that gets not as good stats as me or the other DPS sometimes, is at Plat 3. Mind you we literally play all the wins and losses together. I don’t know what the explanation is for him climbing and me stagnating. But I literally cannot see my tank competitive stats on my own career profile. I think that this might be the issue. Really don’t want to play until this is fixed. Don’t wanna help my friend climb while my account is like this lol.
