WinMTR aint gunna provide any useful information, it’s their stock standard response

All of AUS is being affected

This happens every 6-9 months

I’m not convinced WinMTR results to these random servers actually help our issue.

With my experience with different ISP’s I’ve been with over the years across both AU and now NZ, our ping to these foreign servers are as good as they can be.

The issue is we are being placed on the wrong servers by the blizzard matchmaker.

more like every second week lately

WinMTR just shows them the route your computer is taking to their server
i.e. could be a problem with that user or their ISP

If EVERYONE is having the problem, it’s something on their end
Maybe they havent provisioned enough servers, match making is stuffing up, unknown bug etc

What annoys me is when i leave a bunch of high ping matches in a row, I’m told i will (and have) received a penalty because of it

I was experiencing the same issue in July / August last year. Doesn’t look like anything was done, it just… went away… it seems…

I figure the same thing has been occurring since then, but I probably haven’t been playing enough to notice it.

This is so inconsistent that I’ve given up and started VPNing to California, otherwise I either get Sydney (~50ms) or …I wanna say Singapore? (flippin’ 320ms).

If I VPN to California, I’m guaranteed to get LAX with its tolerable 160ms. It seems odd Singapore(ish) is the fallback when it’s double that.

having this same issue again connecting to australian servers. Keep getting connected to US servers today like LAX and others consitently thru the day. Most players on these servers are also from AUS and complaing about the same issue.
Please fix or give option to select AUS servers only

Played 3 games last night and all I got was 3 SEA servers with all Australian players. Please fix this ASAP. This is very clearly on blizzards end and not ISP related

Howdy!

We see general latency spike impacting Telstra routes but it appears to have returned to normal. For those still experiencing the issue, it would help greatly with providing the following details once more to provide these details to our team.

  • Does this issue occur at all times of the day or only certain times?
  • Current Servers : Example: LAX1, ORD1, SYD1 - Press CTRL+SHIFT+N to open up the Network Graph, this will be next to the IP address at the top left corner of the graph.
  • WinMTR test while the issue occurs:
  • Let’s also grab a WinMTR test for the Oceanic realm to compare what’s happening. Use the IP Address: 37.244.40.1

Please also post your ISP! Thank you.

Hi Zuvykree,

How can I contact a blizzard dev/engineer directly?

Thanks in advance.

You can post over on our General forums to provide them feedback.

Here is my results from the other thread about this im with aussie broadband.

i have to play overwatch with a VPN to not have 150+ ping because this issue is getting worse been going on for months now.

Come on guys, this is getting ridiculous, it’s been like 3 days where almost all games we’ve played have been on pse1 instead of syd2, and even when we get syd2, it’s often with 160ms ping for no apparent reason.

This problem has been going on for many months now, on and off. I’ve never seen a game with this many server problems before. It’s hard to not get frustrated. And is Overwatch 2 going to have the same problems? I can’t see why that’d be different, given they’re compatible. Should Australians just not buy it? Seems a shame!

But yes, getting beyond the joke now. It’s become very clear that you’re not taking the problem seriously, or it would have been fixed months ago.

Hey all o/,

Thank you for the reports. I do see a few threads started on this so went ahead and merged them into this one. Let’s continue there.
