Why is this still a thing?!
It sucks! Especially during comp games.
OCE players are getting screwed with this. Please implement a choice system where you want to only play on specific servers.

Agreed. I’m tired of the 200 ping games.
No matter what server I select it always puts me on the same one. Even tried a VPN and still got the same region \o/

The sad thing is that for Perth at least, a lot of Asia doesn’t have to be 200 ms. It’s precisely because Blizzard / google are completely neglectful of their server routes.
Perth to Singapore in every single other game is a 50 ms route, the only reason that it’s a 150 ms route in Overwatch is that google decides to route you on both the forward and reverse path via Sydney regardless of geographic location.
Perth to Hong Kong should be an 80 ms route for the same reason, and Taiwan should be a 90 ms route. Even Perth to South Korea should be a 115 ms route.
If Blizzard actually cared about routing we’d get more games, better games, and even if we were placed in Asia, the ping would be lower. Instead Blizzard doesn’t even care about the basics and just decided that the entirety of the eastern hemisphere outside of South Korea and mainland China needs to have a vpn. Then they wonder why player numbers are lower here than they expect.

yep, no point even queing comp right now until it’s fixed, 80% of games are completely unplayable, and i just leave qp now until i get aus ping
Ow 2 was coded by college students. all these problems goes away when you use a vpn .

I believe it was NA. But the reason I know, is because I was bronze rank, and so I would see the same players no matter the server. And if it was 3 AM I would see more asian players for some reason. Can’t tell you about OW2, because the player base is so high right now, I haven’t seen any familiar faces yet.

Yeah, most of my games have been on singapore server today. At least it’s not as bad as the one game I had on a european server back near launch day. That game was totally unplayable.

Love top/second from top fragging in a game that is clearly winnable but I can’t diff these kids because I have to compensate for .2 seconds of aim.
