Observation on players with no mic

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve noticed that players who don’t use a mic in competitive play tend to play dps and have better aim than most players their rank. Also, they sometimes make bad positioning mistakes.

I play healer or tank with my friends most of the time. We tend to fill most required roles and we run into these dps players all the time. I think these players would be much higher rank if they coordinated and communicated with the team on a regular basis.

I also think my friends shamed me into being more careful and not dying as often, which is something you don’t really get in solo queue.

What do you guys think?

Because healer and tank mains are under this assumption that the “DPS” of the team must get all the kills or they aren’t doing enough. Not that you are one of them, but that’s the truth.

Voice chat is so toxic in comp that I don’t even bother with it. Yeah it sucks to not be able to coordinate but I’d rather that than harassment and/or tilt (which is infectious).

I’ll go out on a limb here and say you’d be in favor of an LFG lobby. Could postpone queue until 6 players have a mic. (Must be vocal)

This is a lot of words for, “make people in comp use voice chat”. Also, this is wrong. I play all heroes and I’m veeery anti-voice chat.

My last game was a 3-stack in voice chat whining about the DPS. Then they switched, did nothing, went back to healer and whined some more. This isn’t a one off thing. The forums is filled with people talking about how toxic voice chat is. I don’t need anyone telling me to “watch out for that DVa ult”.

My experience is that DPS not on mic usually means they are playing a high skill character which they are no good at.

In my early seasons i Played widowmaker, i came from playing snipers in other games so it was easier for me to translate my skill from other shooters to overwatch.
The team were always quick to flame and i did end up not joining chat as a result i was able to do my role without doubt and enjoy some music, i ended up in diamond.

On the other foot I now heal and use voice chat and see the importance but i can understand why players don’t want to join.

Even with coms and always being positive now, i’m still sitting in the same tier i guess what i’m trying to say is it’s nice to have a team willing to talk and communicate but it might be better for your team if you let the players just do their thing. support them either way.
