Obligatory post saying the new prop hunt mode is bad

im going to be very brief, here are the reasons why is bad:

  • little time to hide, to find the kiriko and to get the genji ult
  • the map is terrible, this mode needs a bigger and more open map
  • genji can spam his attack so he has the advantage
  • WHY IN THE HOLLY MOTHER OF JEFF THEY MADE KIRIKO SPAM RANDOM VOICE LINES TO REVEAL WHERE SHE IS? THAT GOES AGAINST A MODE WHERE YOU HAVE TO HIDE

Just hide with another Kiriko and kill anyone that comes to find you.

of course because its very easy to coordinate a random person on arcade

I think it’s pretty fun, one genuinely big flaw is that it’s a surprisingly effective strategy for Kirikos to group up in a small room and chain stun any and all Genjis that come in, and melee them to death.

Honestly, every prop mode game I’ve ever seen I never had any interest in playing because it doesn’t seem fun. I don’t really get why its popular in the first place to the point that so many games have a little mini-arcade mode of it.

Most of the design was most likely implemented with quick matches in mind.

Bear in mind that this game is based around matchmaking, not a custom games browser.

This is Overwatch, not Gmod.

The custom settings are nice for setting up more time and modifying voice line timers and even adjust damage. Sadly, rarely anyone joins them.

I’d like to see the map being maybe around 25% bigger, like an extra quarter sized section attached and more prop variety. Like 15 seconds more hiding time and more items would be nice, like the torches, bed flowers, and other items visible on map.

Idk it seems fine to me.

among the worst games ive ever played.

Pro tip: Kirikos can kill every Genji at the beginning of the match if they all stand right outside the Genji spawn room and use their ability when the door opens.

It’s kind of like a little horror game light with no stakes. A lot of the fun with none of the spook and everyone enjoys getting the chance to feel smart which both sides give.

The rules are fine, it just needs to be expanded.

I think prop hunt is fun but I wish there were more maps available. If they improve upon it I would love to keep it as a staple mode

Nah, it’s pretty fun. Just needs more added to it to be a regular game mode in arcade

With a little bit of tuning it would be awesome.
Back in the day, when we needed (arcade), games to be won for lootboxes or weekly skins, it would have been welcome as a quick and chill mode.

tbh I think they played prop hunt like maybe 1 time and did it .

Gmod prop hunt was a fun thing, but it also was done right. Other games like Fortnite do not get it right when it comes to how long it takes to settup to hide. In this Overwatch version of prophunt, I couldn’t agree more with your post!

its a lil silly fun side mode limited event. if you dont like it, dont play it.

ya’ll are so whiny.

Personally, I think you get enough time to hide and needing to get kill so you can blade seem balanced.

Map is fine. It could use a few more sure.

Don’t see how the game would work if you couldn’t spam check things?

Voiceline make the game more fun and build tension imo.

I don’t see what your saying is bad rather than you don’t like the mode or projecting your lack of skill as a hider.

It’s a fun mode for a few games.

2 things to drastically improve the mode:
(1) Reduce duration of Kiriko’s AOE stun ability
(2) Remove the voice lines Kiriko says that give her position away

If they did those 2 things, I would keep playing the mode.

Yes, I remember the time I walked into a room and was suddenly stunned, and mauled to death by furniture. It was great.

The best part of the mode for me is seeing the creative hiding spots that people can come up with, and then stealing them for myself in the next match.

As time goes on though, I imagine it will tilt in favor of the seekers, as the best spots become common knowledge. It would be nice to see this mode adapted to more and/or bigger maps.
