As the title suggests, can you get banned for not switching the hero?
I play only widow and sometimes (most of the time) I get hard countered by Winston, Genji, Tracer, Ball… and spawncamped by Sombra.
Very often I get called out in chat for not switching and people are often asking others to report me as well. I’m not sure if this automated AI banning system makes a difference between someone who is really trolling and someone who is playing the game in their own way.
encouraging people ot report someone that can get that person in alot of trouble and probably even a harsher punishment possibly if the ai had any common sense
No. But if you have barely broke the 1k damage line in the 2nd round of KOTH because you get rolled and smoked and you decide not to do anything about it and just continue what you do you can get reported for it. It would be different if you were 12 and didn’t know any better, but you clearly know better and are just obtuse about it it’s a different motive
Not that the motive would really matter since if players decide that your behavior is ruining their gameplay they can report you. It is what it is. AI will ban you and they will see the reports that say “this player inted my game” x30 and they won’t revert it because they’re not going to VOD review all your Widow games
This is what happens when you see those topics about players getting banned over nothing. They play heroes like Ball/DF and just roll and feed over half the time because they’re bad and refuse to switch. They also won’t get any better with the heroes because that’s not how you get better at the game especially as a casual player, which most of them are
So its better not to play the game then to play the game where anyone who is just a little mad about your performance can just send the report and the system will just be “oh, these guys know what they are talking about, ban”.
I don’t know about you guys but it does not seem fair to me. Anyone can repor anyone and just ask people “report widow trolling” and regardless of you having like decent performance the system will ban you… no comment.
I had an 7 year old account from overwatch 1. Got chat restricted first and thought to myself, “ok maybe I was rude in some game I really don’t know”, and after not even talking in chat had perma banned because in 7 of 10 games I get reported because I don’t switch.
I played Overwatch 1 without switching (usualy), having nearly 700 hours on widow (2nd I think is Ana or Ashe with about 70 hours) without any problem and now I got banned because of it after grinding for that long.
No. I just mute whoever demands I swap if they’re complaining in comms. Been doing it since 2016.
No, you’d have to get a very large number of reports for any “auto” suspension to happen across multiple matches. Even then, it’s not against the rules to not swap lol so that would be overturned fast.
It’s not against the rules. People might false report you anyway. You’ll have to appeal those reports. Technically no though, 1-tricking isn’t bannable.
Your performance is what triggers people into reporting you, not the fact you are one-tricking or playing non-meta heroes. And you’d have to be really bad a lot, and be in a higher rank where it’s particularly noticeable among all the other bad players.
As long as people try, I dont consider playing really bad = throwing.
If people are saying that, you can actually report that, since they are doing false reports just because you are playing bad. (still not reportable, people playing bad is not reportable)
Tech no its not… But like many have said there are people that will report you if you dont play up to their standards.
In QP who cares its not that deep… u are there to learn, get better, and adapt with whatever character you are wanting to use.
In Comp its more irritating. If you arent getting value out of your character and continue to get countered to the point u cant do anything but die… then its time swap… but again that is your choice… but then you take the risk of people reporting you from throwing even if you arent throwing
In comp yes. That would fall under sabotage report.
If they are doing it purposefully to ruin your gameplay. You maybe able to report them if they are personally targeting you.
Usually in this scenario after you are dead. A teabag and spray will follow.
If not they just want you to swap off widow.
Ye you probably need to swap.
No one knows for sure. We can only hope that a human reviews and approves any ban or suspension.
If this is your first time, try to improve and play fairly.
If you have been engaging in disruptive behavior, be aware that a suspension is likely on the way. Maybe not immediately, but it will happen if you continue. Reports accumulate.
If you do get suspended, understand that it’s due to your refusal to switch.
Once again, you are wrong. The system has been completely automated, and more stringent. You can be banned for anything and everything. You can try to appeal if it was erroneous, but good luck with that.
As previously stated, it’s not against the ToS, etc, but yeah you can definitely get banned for not swapping. You can also get banned for playing a specific character that someone doesn’t like to see in their games.
Just expect to be banned at some point, no matter what you do. Unless you just choose not to play the game.
And whenever you do inevitably get banned, lol, good luck on your appeal. You can easily go 10 automated responses in a row, all with a day+ of wait time for a response, with Blizzard telling you that the actions were taken in accordance to their ToS.
It’s not against the TOS, but because their system is so heavily automated? It’ll happen if enough people hit report because your not indulging in counterwatch
