Disclaimer: this is from a gold/plat perspective, so ymmv.
Healing was always definitely too high and needed to be toned down in some way. I’m glad they attempted something, but the new dps passive had a giant negative effect of making some dps heroes a detriment to their team because they can’t proc the healing reduction as well as others, leading to a massive power imbalance in the dps roster. I’m starting to think healing itself should’ve just been reduced across the board, and they should’ve simply removed all passives completely.
Related to that, there is also now the largest imbalance in the tank roster I’ve seen in awhile. Some tanks are nearly throw picks compared to others, not because of their own power, but because of the healing reduction. I’m sure this doesn’t need to be elaborated on.
As a result of all the changes combined, nearly every QP game I’ve played this season (I’m not touching comp until they put in whatever hotfixes they are planning on) has S76 and Zen, usually on both teams, because both heroes are WAAAAAY too effective and are in a tier of their own.
I’m constantly going up against S76s who are flailing around the screen, their aim looking like they are trying to shoot a fly, and they are regularly clearing the lobby and completely dominating in dmg and elims. My aim is meh on a good day. And when I play S76, I feel like a much better player than I am simply because I’m hitting way more shots. This is great. But it’s very clear S76 damage is way overtuned with the season 9 changes. A hit box revert, or a damage nerf is needed.
Zen needs a fat HP nerf or more of his health pool need to be actual health and not shields. SOMETHING needs to change here. He is oddly too difficult to kill when you consider how much his personal damage and Discord (I have always hated Discord, it needs to be removed completely) swing fights.
For some reason, I am going up against Doomfist teams 7 out of every 8 games. He is massively popular right now (in qp at least), and is still the tank I hate fighting more than any other. In the odd chance I don’t play against a DF, the only other tanks I see are DVa and Winston, or a hail mary Orisa if they are losing. I almost never see the other tanks.
One good thing is that I no longer, for the first time in literal years, feel like supports are the stars of the show. I definitely feel the reduced effectiveness of the supports in the lobby and it’s nice knowing they can’t always just heal through whatever damage happens.
Sorry for jumbled thoughts. I’m still trying to parse through how much the game has changed this season. I’m sure my issues are not the same issues high ranked players are having, and I’m sure at least some of this is skill issue. I am gold/plat after all.
TL,DR: Doom/S76/Zen every single game, S76 and Zen need giant nerfs, and I’m feeling like the healing reduction passive needs to be reverted completely, with all passive removed and a flat healing reduction across the board for all abilities instead, so that dps and tank picks aren’t so massively skewed towards a small handful of heroes. Tired of playing against the same few heroes, while feeling like I can only play those same few heroes because they are too good/valuable compared to everyone else.
