Seriously I’m just not impressed with Overwatch 2 and I’m sure some are but seriously… like wow a new support character that actually might require skill to use?
I’m thinking about in normal ranked games where the average support player struggles to even use Ana properly and usually defaults to easier no brain/no aim Moira/Mercy/Brig. I’m not looking forward to games when people can’t use Kiriko properly.
The whole thing feels rushed, unpolished and just quite frankly a f–ing mess. Who the hell loses their lead character designer as the game starts? Who changes the Game Director as the game is coming out? I’ll tell you who.
A company who have no idea what they are doing
I see a really poor roadmap which won’t be followed because Blizzard don’t even have a replacement lined up this company built WoW and their Lead Character Designer leaves and they dont even have a good idea who is replacing him?
I see a rocky future in Overwatch (2)'s path and its going to be a very bumpy and not good ride
So why were they advertising for the post only now then? If they had someone lined up why would they be asking for applications for the job if he was ‘just doing interviews’.
As I said this game is rushed, not thought out and I swear once OWL folds which it will, we will be left with an utter crap fest of a game. I really just can’t believe how poor Blizzard has become as a company, they use to be at the top tier of game production… now looking at them it just makes me sad.
In fairness, they’ve been pretty up front about this part. They only pivoted back to PvP content post Jeff, up until then, the focus was entirely on PvE.
Blizzard have no idea where to go because there is so much noise and people change their mind all the time. Like role Q. People were crying all the time about the fact that everyone were going 5 dps and they put Role Q to fix it. Quality of games are way better since that time but no people are still crying “It WaS BaTtar BafOre”
They are trying stuff to see what will work or not. Overwatch is an experiment right know, and I think it was always like that.
Which is positive in some way, it make things move a bit.
You may not see it, but Blizzard have fixed a lot god damn of things in Overwatch trought the years. Sadly, they had to remove a tank because Reinhardt was breaking the meta, always did in double tanks.
I like most of the character changes and reworks. Even less CC, which was something I dreaded, felt better to play. This coming from someone that uses the hell out of it in OW1.
I dunno, most characters have a fluid flow to them that they did not have before.
I do think their departure is a result of the higher execs at ActBlizz having a tantrum that looks like this:
“WHY ISNT OWL THE E-SPORT WITH THE MOST VIEWERS??? WE INVESTED MONEY ON THAT! AND WHERE ARE OUR 40 MILLION PLAYERS!!! YOU ARE GAME DESIGNERS! DESIGN THE GAME TO HAVE MORE VIEWERS AND PLAYERS!!! WHILE ALSO BEING A COMPETITIVE E-SPORT!!!”
Blizzard could not keep the lightning inside the bottle when 2016 Overwatch stormed the world and was GOTY and one of the most played games in the world and higher ups want more, in their eyes it is probably fault of the designers that this could keep it up.
Despite being the very same demands from the higher-ups that created most of the conflicting designs that contributed to Overwatch’s downfall, from most played game in the world, GOTY and awards and all, to whatever shell, lumbering corpse it is now.
Working on Blizzard is probably a nightmare for any game designer.
Yeah, the game lacks focus and the whole “sequel” just feels like excuse to monetize it again.
At least her healing will be easy to land so people won’t have excuse for being bad at healing but I don’t get why every new hero has to require pint point accuracy just to be useable.
Pushing the exact same game won’t make people come back.
Community: we want less CC
Blizzard: Here’s doomfist, ball, briggite
Community: We want rolequeue
Blizzard: It’s against the spirit of overwatch
Also Blizzard: Here’s rolequeue with hours of queue time
Blizzard: We will reduce CC in OW2
Also Blizzard: Sojurn and Junkerqueen
Community: we don’t really like lamp
Blizzard: here’s kiriko or whatever her name is
As well as a balance team that gives a tank heal/anti heal and CC at the same time, is just … not really good at their job. Good luck balancing that. Why we can’t have a tiny bit of consistency?
Sombras rework is a decent example of devs not knowing what they’re doing too.
Hack
Poor mans discord that can be interrupted.
Wallhack on hack (basically a poor mans Ping system that gives out your position and warns the enemy they’re pinged, so they could wait it out like widow ult or sonic.)
It just feels like rushed.
Throw in a bunch of vultures preying on colleagues, a CEO that keeps pulling teams off of ow in order to work on failed projects and voila, we have ow2. Brilliant recipe.
Oh yeah, did you know OW2 is actually just a pve update? Oh … nvm.
Because people are dumb and want supports to require aim. Even while supports would prefer playing DPS then, since headshot on enemy is a lot more rewarding, than headshot on ally.
With Kiriko being so rewarding on headshots(increased crit damage or something), I can’t wait for Kiriko players not healing anyone. Because it’s lame, she has low hps, and headshots are more fun anyway.
It’s easy to think this when your only sample size is a forum that makes up a very small percentage of the playerbase. You ask most people in-game and they’ll tell you that they’re looking forward to OW2.
Welp, best example of that was dps passive, i wonder how confident they are in the final version that is not seen kindly from people on paper it seems.
They were looking for a lead designer for a while now, it was already leaked that Geoff was going to leave the company, he was most likely just waiting for the publishing build to be ready for console approval, as he left right after that.
