idk i’m so sad
when map voting was first announced i thought it could be cool but it’s made my overwatch experience so tiring and borderline miserable.
maps that i liked before map voting are now the one that i dread. i’ve played 20+ games this evening and i haven’t been able to make it on any of my favorite maps and have felt stuck rotating between the same 5 places. ending up on the same map 2 or 3 times in a row is genuinely so deflating and makes the game feel like a chore.
i give up so i’m calling it a night and going to bed way earlier than i normally do and probably won’t even bother playing tomorrow. i guess the one positive of this all is that i’ll get a few extra hours of sleep lol.
i genuinely hope other people are having a better time with map voting than i am but i hope the devs can find a way to balance it more or maybe even just keep it comp only. i really do hate to complain but this is the least amount of fun i’ve had in the game ever since i picked it up.

I like the new system better than the old one, but I will admit it can be irksome when all the votes but one are on a given map, but RNG decides that the one guy voting for clash gets his wish today. But that’s RNG for you.

Its a vote, not everyone gets their pick ofc. No drama really.

Yep. This genuinely sucks.
It’s a shame, because it’s so easily preventable if they used a mixture between the old and new map selection systems: select the 3 maps that have been played least-most-recently by the people in the lobby and then vote on which to play.
It shouldn’t even be possible to see a map that you’ve just played as an option in the vote.

Actually, there’s a fair bit of drama when eleven people vote for King’s Row and one person trolls by voting for Hanaoka - and the chosen map is Hanaoka. Don’t ask me how I know.

Thats just fun for me. Annoying but well played trolling lol

I think i’m starting to hate king’s row and rialto after playing it 10 times in a row, also midtown, trash system just give us quickplay back plz
That’s exactly what I’m talking about, people keep asking for things they don’t even understand. This is going to be handled by Blizzard, which means: hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. If it works, don’t touch it, it’s simple. But no, it’s never enough for everyone, so let’s just throw in even more stuff that works in other games but will completely not in OW. Because that’s how you “add variety” and “breathe new life” into the game, sure.

Map voting has been a net positive for me. Some truly garbage maps are more rare. Flashpoint is also OUT. Which is a big plus.

Same. Map voting has snuck up on me as my most hated change to the game in nine years. In the run up, after it was announced, I was ambivalent towards the idea. I don’t really love any particular maps, nor do I particularly hate any, either. My approach to maps was always rather detached from emotion. I enjoyed the variety of maps and modes that the old random selection provided. This has all changed with the addition of map voting. I’m starting to feel frustrated and annoyed with the frequent repetition of certain maps. Moreover, whereas I didn’t in the past dislike the two escort modes, I am now, in just two weeks, starting to really despise them.

Map votes make literally no difference to the game.

My experience is very different.
The game was a chore playing when i had to play mods i don’t like but now the game is a pleasure to play because after so many years,i don’t have to play what i don’t want to play.
Come back in a few years when you have suffered as much as we have…
To be honest, they should put both options.
One option with votes and one without…That would be perfect for everyone.
I’ve supported pretty much every change to OW during the past 3 years, but I despise Map Voting. The old system worked perfectly. Now I’ve played the same Ranked map twice in a row 5 times during the past week. It’s just awful. There is no excuse for making a system so flawed that it’s not an extremely rare occasion to play the same map twice in Ranked. It’s a change towards casuality, away from competitiveness - for the casual player base, Ig bc those are the ones who buy skins most.
