Why rank reset 5v5 Role Queue but not 5v5 Open when they converted it to 6v6 MID SEASON? Open queue is COMPLETELY different from Role queue and 5v5 is COMPLETELY different from 6v6 but no rank reset? Everyone knows Open Queue just inflates everyone’s ranks because no one played it compared to other modes. Not doing a rank reset is completely inconsistent with what they have been doing.
I’ve gotten so many players on my team that are so very clearly not even close to mine. They make terrible plays and defend it with their lives. The amount of Q presses while 1 HP seems to have gone up exponentially, the awareness has gone down and the feeding has gone up. They play like this is deathmatch. I check profiles to see that they are Gold in role queue, but the game literally lies to their face by saying they are Diamond in open queue.

I’m very mad about this too. 5v5 OQ was my main mode but I still was exactly the same SR. Now my SR is taking a severe beating because it plays so differently (and much worse, in my opinion…).
Diamond was basically top 500 OQ, which is pretty fun as it was an overall lower power level mode with something of a more ‘casual comp’ feeling to it. 6v6 comp is just more utter sweat and so many people who never played the mode are making it chaotic.
I’ve stopped playing the mode entirely, I have no desire to tank my SR in a mode I don’t care about. Back to RQ for me until it’s back (and it BETTER be back).

If it comes back, I am going to win like 30 games in a row Jr. G7777. Because that’s how many I lost playing open queue as Mercy despite being a tank player. ROFL
It is SO dumb. I am just setting myself up for free drive points. /s

Yeah, being a masters player but plat in open queue is just insane.
I feel bad for the 5v5 OQers. They are so used to playing their GOATS-like comps with bloated tank HP, that they have no idea how to survive in 6v6.

I never use to play OQ so the rank reset wouldn’t have done anything to me; but what would the rank reset really have done? There really wasn’t a 6v6 comp mode to reset from for OW2. Even going from 5v5OQ to 6v6OQ is a different game. So it’s like they’re starting fresh with 6v6OQ isn’t it?
I can’t complain because I’ve never been able to crack into diamond and I just did with 6v6OQ.
This is me. I could look at it as this game has been lying to my face this entire time that my rank is low Gold. Because the games feel great and I’m doing just fine
Doesn’t matter because there’s no decent MMR system in place anymore anyway; it’s been gone since they messed with matchmaking in S1 to cover for the 10 minute queues for both tank and DPS players across multiple ranks when there was a support player exodus.
But yeah, I agree it’s very stupid. Honestly, though? It seems like there were a lot of intentionally terrible things put into the mode and yet still 5v5 RQ is inferior. Crazy lol.

I’m not sure that’s the problem because I’ve seen chaos caused by people doing placements. I’ve had folks dominate a lobby, and it’ll turn out that they’re high ranked but in a plat lobby because the system doesn’t know where to put them yet. So they’re essentially turned into smurfs until they end up back where they belong.
If you want an example of a streamer being dumped way lower than he should be in this way, check out Frogger’s latest videos where he shows his 6v6 placements. Over his ten games he works his way through plat and ends up in something like diamond 4 or 5. He’s a GM player and he did work his way back up there, but has to play in a whole load of lobbies that he had no business being in.
Instead of normal placements, I’d have preferred it if people with no OQ rank were given a base rank nearer to their RQ peak than starting from the default gold/plat border (or whatever it is).
They did do a rank reset. The game dropped me an entire rank even though I played last season. I think I was in diamond 3 or so and after my first placement match it said I was predicted plat 5.
I had the opposite experience, personally. I was ranked in plat last season in 5v5 and then I somehow placed into HIGH diamond 1 and immediately won two games to make it into Masters. This season in 5v5, I’ve climbed back into diamond, but it’s interesting that I placed so much higher in 6v6OQ.
Like this guy said though, the games don’t seem wildly uneven compared to my 5v5 games.

theres no difference honestly, you pick tanks you win, you don’t you lose. 
theres just 1 more player to select a tank or sup.
Idk why people keep saying the did a rank reset for open queue when the never did. I was top 500 high diamond low masters and i was still that when they swapped it to 6v6. Then i dropped because i get players with inflated ranks on my team because the placements are non existant.
Having everyone at a base rank wouldnt fix the problem either. Then you would just have high elo players stomping bronze players which is also not okay.
They dropped the ball and now im a masters player in plat. how is that fair to anyone?
