I’m a little unclear on portrait colors and the wiki & website don’t clear it up.
Is it possible to earn a silver or gold portrait in quick play only? I’m super casual and pretty much only do QP - I’m level 100 now and my portrait is still bronze.
Also, how do you get the little stars around your portrait? How do some folks have stars but no frame, silver but no stars, etc.
Thanks to anyone who can clear up portrait progression!
the more you level the better frame you get
each 100 levels is a star, at level 600 you lose stars but get a silver boarder

You can calculate a player’s level with this simple formula:
Overwatch level = (# below Portrait) + (100 * # stars) + (600 * portrait frame color)
where portrait frame color is:
0 = Bronze
1 = Silver
2 = Gold
3 = “Platinum”
4 = “Diamond”
For seeing a player’s exact level, even when they are beyond level 2991 (appearance is Diamond, with 5-stars and any number 1-100 below the portrait, like what I have), you can use an external stat tracker, like Overbuff.

It’s definitely possible to earn any border in just QP. As long as you earn xp you can level up. You get stars around your portrait each 100 levels, so you should be getting a star the next time you level up. You get silver portrait at 600 and gold at 1200 and then it goes on and on
