Noob-friendly characters

What characters do you see as too strong with minimal effort? Please make your opinions known without disparaging others in the topic.

ana, ashe, junkrat, dva, mercy, reinhardt, reaper, moira

Rein’s an interesting inclusion. Can you elaborate further on that? If you want me to weigh in, I will, but I’m keeping my opinions to myself unless prompted.

thanks. i think his giant hitbox on his melee is very easy to land. then he can stand with one button held for a shield, in one of 16 directions. not hard. he gets a chance to throw a projectile into a group once in a while, which isn’t particularly difficult. the only thing you could really master is his charge, and positioning.

I mean it has to be hog right? I mean I play him when I turn off my brain, some might say you have to land the hook but it’s easy, it has the hitbox the size of a garbage truck.

His positioning and his charge definitely go hand in hand. That’s where I see new players screw up most often. That’s why I wanted the deeper explanation.

I’ll never understand how Moira has a “lock-on” while Hog has a “skill shot” when both of those things have basically the same hitbox

moira
ashe - in my opinion
soldier 76 - for sure. hackers choice
reaper - real good entry level flanker
mercy - not strong atm and weakest healer imo but you can learn her quick
d.va- she is straight forward but yea i can see the best ones having to learn her for hours
roadhog - noob one shot combo
lucio - i think? i mean it probably doesnt take long to learn his nuances
reinhardt - cant believe i forgot him… very straight forward. your mistakes are your awareness if poor. as is with most heroes on this list
junkrat - oh yea this guy… still i think he is hard to learn and i see a lot of meh junkrats. good ones are rare
pharah - easy to get value but hard to play at highest levels and ones who do are very good at the game
brigitte - real easy hero to learn but also most easiest hero to get yourself killed

Cause it’s a beam you hold down I guess, it’s easy but it ain’t exactly the end of the world. About as inconvenient as a fly while your eating spaghetti, just walk up and smack it.

Junkrat is quite easy on lower ranks, he can just outspam enemies there.
Roadhog might be alright as well.
Sojourn is easy if you are good enough at aiming, she got a lot of damage.

Mercy is the easiest character in history, quite weak rn tho

Genji , tracer , sourjorn , junkrat , reaper, soldier , Rein , orisa , roadhog , zarya , mercy , Brigitte (if u don’t use like a front line hero lol ) , Lucio , Moira , Phara , and especially echo that thing is the easiest there is and you can get performance out of it even if you play with your feet

Mercy

Not saying all mercy, there is just a select few out there that do this and they give a bad name for other mercy, but I recently witnessed someone using multiple accounts over the space of a month to boost someone who was plat/diamond into GM

And then actual mercy who DESERVE their rank get hated on and called boosted because of stuff like this.

I was gonna write more heroes but I’m too lazy lol

Reaper, Hanzo, Genji, Roadhog, Rein, Dva, Lucio, Mercy, Moira, Pharah, Cassidy, Torb, Junkrat, Soldier and Winston are all incredibly easy to play.

Moira, Rein, Hog, DVA, Mercy, Orisa for sure. Winston, Genji, reaper on lower ranks.

I can’t think of any noob-friendly hero that’s “too strong” with minimal effort. The noob-friendly heroes are generally pretty balanced or even weak, and really only become an issue if they’re competing with players who are below their own hero’s skill floor.

Like I’m not gonna call a hero like Pharah “strong” because she dunks on people who can’t look up.

Tank - hog, rein
Dps - reaper, junk
Support - moira, mercy

I do think some of these have quite a high skill ceiling, but are still quite easy to get good value out of right away. Moira I think is the easiest hero in the game by far to be a good player on.

Junkrat, Cree, Moira, Roadhog. But it’s good we have easier characters.

It more or less depends on what exactly you’re asking.

If you’re looking for something like, “Genji is easiest because there’s mild risk and high reward,” the beginner-friendliness isn’t much of a factor. His kit is not simple to use.

On the other hand, Reaper’s kit is very simple to use, but difficult to master.

Overall, I would say junkrat, pharah, mercy, soldier 76, reaper, and winston are the most beginner-friendly.

Rein without knowledge just feeds, they won’t know when is a good time to go in or when to shatter or when to stop firestriking. He’s mechanically simple but I wouldn’t call him noob friendly, not compared to Orisa or Zarya.

Noobs come in a variety of mechanical skill levels so that’s not really a good basis for judging noob friendliness. It’s more about ease of getting value and ease of not getting punished, which is heroes like Soldier, Reaper and Moira.

Skill shot does not mean it takes skill to land, it’s just a name for any sort of ability that isn’t auto targeting like Armor Pack or Zen’s orbs. Cass’s grenade is even technically one even though it has homing

that being said Hook, which is a projectile that telegraphs it’s throw and slows your movement, is infinitely more skilled than succ.
