Most online games that make up an esport grant you a knock out win if the opposite team leaves and the match cannot be continued, but not Overwatch!!
I’m a huge OW fan and I try sometimes to bring new ppl to this game so I convinced my housemate to play a few matches with me copla weeks ago. We’d lost a few so we feel quite excited when we finally find a compo that works. So we’re in the middle of the match, all excited 'cause we’re kicking **** when suddenly we find ourselves in the main menu. My friend is shocked! “Wtf happened?!” I felt incredibly embarrassed to have to tell him that the match was cancelled because the other team left. This is not acceptable in any esport taken seriously! You shouldn’t be punished if the opposite team is made of a bunch of losers who leave altogether all of a sudden, you should get the win by knock out!
It’s as if Portugal was playing against Italy, then all of a sudden the referee cancels the match because Portgual is winning 7-0 and the Italians don’t want to play any more (I’m Italian btw).
The match doesn’t get cancelled if every player leaves the game, it only gets cancelled if 1 (or more) players leave before 2 minutes have passed.
btw, this is technically 30 seconds of match time, as you have 1 minute in spawn, 30 seconds to play, and 30 seconds before it kicks everyone and cancels the match.
If there’s a new exploit for how to cancel a match that involves the entire team leaving after those 2 minutes, I haven’t heard of it. However, that would be gamebreaking.
It was way more than 30" of gameplay. It was the 2nd round in fact and we were even making friends with the only dude left in the other team, when suddenly he leaves as well and puff! The match never existed. Don’t know if it’s a bug or working as intended but it needs a fix ASAP. It may be tolerable in QP but not in Comp. It’s just ridiculous.
In anything other than competitive if the entire enemy team leaves it is likely to cancel the match and not declare a winner so you lose all of the exp.
I’ve noticed since the latest update that comp matches are no longer 2 rounds, with 1 team on offense and then switching to defense for the 2nd round. It’s a simple 1 round scenario now; so unless its control point, that was actually 2 separate matches.
Also, if it really is the case where they left in the middle of a match set and not just the first 2 minutes, I wouldn’t post this in competitive, but put it in the technical help forum.
Match did exist, you will gain sr even if whole team leave. Match will just end instantly and goes to main screen, but you gain sr. You will just not we it at end of match as usual.
I was in a game last week , the whole enemy team left in the middle of the match. The match ended and I was taken back to the match menu and didn’t get any SR . I should’ve saved the vod… this game is so fun.
That means the first 30 seconds after the doors open. Most of the time, a match cancellation is because the player is afk at the start of the match, they get idle-kicked, and the match gets cancelled…
But it is also possible for a player to rage quit, there’s just enough time to get the point and get headshot by Widow and rage quit to trigger match cancellation.
Its possible you didnt refreh your profile, if you go from game to profile where you were before, its not refreshed.
Well thats ultra rare as you have to have something to be raging for. I mean, sure you can rage quit by being placed with thrower who announce it before match starts. BUt if you contribute to fight,match is not canceled, basicly only AFK player cancel match.
