No way to change chat controller bind

I was playing overwatch 2 and I was changing around my controller binds on xbox when I noticed that the chat feature was stuck to the left stick bind with no way to change this.

Hey! I had this same issue on PS. The way I fixed it, and it sucks, but I restored controls settings to default.

I agree. I change left stick button, but it still won’t change.

I.E. on XBox, set my ultimate to left stick button. When ultimate is charged there is a left stick icon under it. I press left stick, and it does not do ultimate, it does text box chat.

Also have this issue. Along with many people on the forums. We use left stick to jump but can’t remap the l3 or turn off chat all together

Another issue on Xbox. You can’t bind b button

Still can’t unbind this and jump into chat at most inopportune times.

I found out how to fix it but you have to turn all text chat off.

How to do it:
Go to options, social
Go to text chat then turn off group, team, and match chat off.

Bto, this is a serious problem. Its game breaking. I can’t remap the left stick, it keeps going back to chat window at the MOST inappropriate times!

Did you figure out how to temporarily fix this? I can fix it sometimes but it keeps going back to left stick for chat window

Just restart the game. Should fix it.

Yeah i had the restore all my controoler settings then rebind the L3 to melee now it works again. I think i might be a bug or something. It has never done this until i logged in today.

You need to go into the dS4bWindows app then create a new profile where it says edit. From here it’ll ask if you wanna use pre configured setups select no and go through and bind each one like normal. This solved my problem.

It is crazy this game breaking bug has not been addressed! It happens to me after playing custom games. Specifically using an 8bitdo pc controller, if that helps the devs debug it.

What is even more ridiculous and annoying, is that people will likely need to use their keyboard to chat, having this be toggled from the controller makes literally no sense.
