Literally played 5 games as healer on new account, gets 2745 SR Plat. I wasnt quite good enough to land diamond. Log into main account, play 5 games of healer, 1948 SR high SILVER. Silver! You tell me there’s no such thing as elo hell huh.
This game has seriously bad issues with sr leveling and understanding peoples rank. Are they ever going to fix this?
P.S. Landed plat for dps on alt account too. The games are great, i have stayed plat all season (for dps). Main account got gold and about 300-400 SR difference from alt account, literally every game is a ‘mission impossible’ grind.
Surely your rank should be YOUR rank and not how good or bad your team mates play. Will they ever change this? Are there any solutions you think blizzard can implement?
(dunno how to add screen shots for proof???)

Plat is the default rank. If you have placed in previous seasons and gotten silver then you will always place silver until you put in the effort to climb.

Let’s say you really are a Plat player, then you will climb out of Silver quickly.

The difference between silver and plat are abysmal compared to diamond or master. I mean the game is so heavy on certain play styles now and all that matters is making the meta decision faster than your opponent. APM, ping and GPU have a huge influence too. There’s nothing inherently special about being x rank, it’s just statistics.

Doesn’t that tell you that performance you have on new account and on main account are not really the same thing?
look guys how confirmation bias works, and learn to not be like this!

OW is really not GPU dependent at all, and ping isn’t that big of a deal, especially for most supports. The game is more decision making than mechanics.

The game just needs a good processor to play on low-medium. I have to play on high settings to have more GPU stress, because my CPU sucks (fx8320). The game’s engine is pretty bad, if my fps falls below 100, the game starts to have input lag and stutters. Hopefully OW2’s engine will be better.
The player base is stagnant. There are no “new” players, it’s all just smurf accounts. So there really isn’t a way for and significant number of people to move up. The relative skill of players has inflated to such a point that bronze players today are like plat player from four years ago. Or something similar. Hopefully you get the gist of what I’m trying to say…

Its more like you lack of knowledge how placement and ranks work.

Why is it important to make people think that ranked overwatch is accessible?

Oh, well you’re either lying/spreading misinformation, so i figure i’d correct ya.
How am I spreading misinformation?
Ping, as long as its steady, will be fine. I play on 40-50 ping from the east coast, but if i go to EU servers, i get ~120 ping and can still play to a masters+ level. I know players who play on 200+ ping and get to diamond.
As for GPU, this game is not GPU dependent. You said both of these things have a HUGE influence, but neither of them do, thats the misinformation lmao.
So my question is why are we matched against the same people over and over. I could name half the players I play with and they range from 1,000+ SR to below 500. If Overwatch has 30 million concurrent players, even if bronze only accounts for 5%, you would think statistically that would be improbable, unless the MMR is matching me against these people because we are all rated the same MMR. Guess what, the only way I’ve found to escape playing those people is to loose a lot or win a lot, plain and simple. And even then you still get matched with some. It doesn’t take much to figure out that ELO hell is a real thing once you’ve experienced that for awhile.
Can you define elo hell for me please.

There’s inherently a smaller playerbase near the extremes, be that Bronze or Masters. Then there’s however many players there are are divided into 3 regions, various server locations, and their individual timezones. The playerbase is inherently divided, these things can’t be “fixed”.
If you play in an extreme rank, at any off times (weekdays, early - during traditional work hours), or if you play in a low-pop server (Australia), then you’re likely to see the same group of people if you want to have consistent ping.
Even in masters; I play on midwest servers mostly on weekends and later in the day (peak times) and I rarely have more than 1 person in back to back games.
Uh, yeah. You are. That’s what MMR does.
Yep. Good job. Not sure what your point is. That’s literally how the ladder works.

By lying?
This is simply not true, especially at lower ranks. Until literally this last season or two I almost exclusively played off-meta heroes and climbed pretty effortlessly. Even right now I play quite a bit of off-meta picks on my accounts - A lot of Doomfist, Roadhog, (Ana, until just recently), ans Zen for a while. Even when I do play meta it’s mostly coincidental, I climbed largely by playing what I was good at and what I felt like playing.
Meta is nice, and if you’re good at the meta that’s even better - but playing off-meta generally isn’t the reason you’re lower ranked. It’s because you’re bad.
“APM” is super important in the MOBA/RTS scene, it isn’t quite as important here. Sure, it technically matters - and it matters a lot more for certain characters, but things like positioning, general awareness, ult/cooldown usage, target priority, and mechanical ability are significantly more important. Sure, if you’re playing Ana and you never drop nade/sleep, or if you’re Roadhog and you hook once every 2 minutes - you probably won’t climb. But being able to know the exact precise moment to use a cooldown really isn’t that pivotal, especially in diamond or lower.
Sure, ping matters. I played on ~120 ping with high interpolation delay due to buffer bloat on my router for a really long time. It was really difficult, indicators completely stop working, dying without your ult activating was common. But if you just have high ping, it’s not that much of a killer.
As for GPU - this game is not particularly graphically intensive. More than say CSGO or LOL, for sure - but minimum graphics settings at 1080p can easily run 60+ FPS on most GPUs.

Wow the MMR advocates are out in force today. Welcome to the defense! Good thing Blizzard has so many dedicated people helping out. I wonder though, why do some of you have different writing styles now than you did when I was active before? It’s almost like one or two of you are different people?
Also if you want to see how important fps is to first person shooters watch some youtube videos. The difference between 60fps and 120fps on ability is measurable and significant.
Ironic, you give no solutions or debunk anything and just say muh he bait. sad
