I’m sorry but even if you lose I believe you should get some sort of reward for trying. A win gives 15 comp points toward a gold weapon right? But losing gives you 0. Yet you can be in a match that lasts 20 minutes and it’s very back and forth. And then at the end when you lose, despite both teams doing great, you get nothing. Can you change it so it gives 5 at least? It at least makes it worthwhile and make people want to come back. Otherwise it’s like… “I did all that, and it was a great match, but I get nothing. So why should I do this again?” I don’t think this is an unreasonable request. Even if you lost every single game, that means it would take 600 games to get a golden weapon. 200 if you win every single game.
Then people will care even less about winning, if they’re playing comp simply for the cp points then they literally just have to que for a few hours a day. “Who cares if we win? I still get my comp points”
You will still get triple the amount of points for winning. So winning is still the fastest way to getting a weapon. It would take a very long time to get a weapon skin even as losing. But you at least get to work toward it. I don’t think 5 points is going to turn people to who cares.
But for people who throw just to be a dick to team mates they don’t like, they will actually get rewarded for doing so?
Most likely they will end up getting banned instead for intentionally throwing. Then they won’t be able to get any. I don’t think very many people would do this anyhow honestly. You could say it’s sort of the equivalent of the winning team in baseball giving a hand shake to those who lost. You may not of won, but you at least get a little something. Also, yes Blizzard takes their reports very seriously. So if you report someone for throwing, they WILL look at it. Which I’m glad to see. I’ve reported a few people before and each time I got a response saying the player had been dealt with later on.
Look, I agree with what you are saying but to put it plain and simple, you shouldn’t be rewarded for losing. Whether you are trying hard or not the game isn’t just gunna reward your loss. Try hard and work hard for the win and you get rewarded with sr and comp points.
This isn’t the American education system, they’re not just gonna hand out gold stars to everyone who participates.
If you want them points you’ve got to earn them. If you want to lazily lose your way to a gold weapon then you never really earned it. A golden gun represents the grind and hassles of competitive play. The losses are included in the latter.
A golden weapon represents being in GM with one or two heroes and getting the other gold weapons by association. They mean nothing after the first one unfortunately
I’ve seen people throw from gm to bronze for several seasons and they are still not banned.
iirc the old format was 10 for a win and 5 for a loss and it got changed to 15 for a win and 0 for a loss.
wait
people care about comp points???
i noticed i take a glance at them maybe once a week
There will be less deranker who says: “I dont care about comp, i just derank back to bronze then win to farm comp points”
Idk did you try to actually win games to get rewarded instead of asking to get free “reward” for being bad ? No golden weapons for bads, pretty easy to understand : D
Time to throw until I get a golden gun i guess
This might actually be one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard. If I win a game, I deserve recognition of some sort. If I lose a game, I’m rewarded with experience and places to improve my skill upon. Sorry that life is “hard,” but you have to work for things in life if you want to get them.
dayum too big brains for this forum
You actually get two things:
Most people learn more from a loss than they do from a win.
So you get a great opportunity to review your mistakes and learn from them.
Secondly you get to lose some SR.
This means that the next game will be easier, hence more chance you will get a win next time.
To put this another way most people have a 50% win rate, given this, it is logical to assume that you get 7.5 CP’s from every win or loss - because thats what happens on average. You actually get screwed on draws, because they don’t change your SR and only give you 5 CP’s.
To be fair the whole system of rewards for playing comp is broken (I think there is a you tube video from someone on the Bliz team admitting it was a mistake).
Even the T-500 badges got abused - which is why decay was introduced.
No, no participation prizes. You do not get a prize for losing. Sorry.
This is such a bad idea.
If you want to gain SR points, then earn them. Why reward mediocrity and the willingness to settle for losing? I have long ago accepted that in every match played - 50% of the people who play will lose that match. In almost every instance that I find myself on the losing side I could point out at least a couple things I could have done better to increase my odds of being on the winning side.
Losing should be something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Losing should be a crucible that empowers good players to keep working at getting better and forces the players who are not wired for competitive to stick with quick play and arcade.
If you don’t like the taste of losing, then you really need to take a long hard honest look at what you can do to stop losing. Stop blaming your team mates. Stop blaming ‘the system’. It is a numbers game and you have to look at what you can do each match to put as many of the odds in your teams favor of winning as possible.
Maybe competitive is just not for you. You should really take a look at that. Seriously, if the blow of losing a match needs to be softened for you by a consolation prize - competitive is not for you and will only continue to be a source of unhappiness for you. And that’s okay. Not everybody is a competitive person and the game has many other modes they can play and enjoy.
No, the old system was 10 for a win, 0 for a loss, and 3 for a tie. Now it’s just 15 for a win, though I don’t recall if ties got bumped up to 5.
