This mode is so bad, I want to play goat but I can’t, no one play the 3 3 comp in my team or in the other team, always a lot of DPS, always too much boring DPS Doom
I have to leave most of the games to find people who want to play the goat comp…
Some heroes should be ban on this mode (all DPS as an exemple) so we can just play DVa Rein Zarya Lucio Brig Moira Zen and enjoy at least one game of goat vs goat
Same. I gave up on the mode. It’s just DPS Doom simulator right now, which is only fun for the two Dooms in every lobby. And solo tanking just isn’t possible with the OW1 versions of those tanks.
Weren’t there variations of goats in pro play that had doom?
There were since he could punch through Rein’s barrier and/or instakill Brig, but I have yet to see more than 1 tank picked in my games this week. It’s just Doom rolling everyone per usual.

Queue with one or two friends. If the randos see you instalock 3 tanks you might get a support or two, or even three if you’re lucky.
almost nobody out of high rank and e-sports played GOATS back in the day either. GOATS was just the most effective way to use a scenario that made playing the game miserable (heavy CC heroes, static gameplay, brig being the devil taken flesh)

Yeah it’s more like a DF Classic mode.
I had some games without dps but they were often 4-5 supps. The only 3 tanks and 3 supps were ball, hog, monkey, mercy, moira and brig.
Let’s play goats without playing goats.

GOATS was only played in like the top 3% of ranked play. Do you really think a bunch of 5v5 players would consistently be able to synergize in such an exclusive comp, especially these crutch 5v5 tank players?

GOATS was a boogeyman just like Double Shield.
It was never a frequent occurrence in anything but the top level of play, but influencers and Blizzard tricked the brainrotted playerbase into thinking those comps were actual problems.
I keep getting new accounts abusing doomfist in OW classic, making the game unplayable and unwinnable for everyone else. To combat this, I started swapping to sombra and perma hacking the doomfist so that he can’t play the game. The game is still unwinnable usually because of huge team diff, but at least I can punish the smurf doomfist for abusing the matchmaker.
Most people want to play this mode to play their original hero, who was destroyed by OW2.
I play this mode because I want to play a proper Sombra. Three years of the OW2 Sombra assassin nonsense was long enough. The same will happen with DPS Doom.
So that’s why people instalock Widow and Ashe the second character select is available?
I primarily stated my assumption from my perspective, but it wasn’t any different in the last OWC. Mercy wasn’t always present there either!
If you want to argue that during the last OWC, the meta was played much more frequently, that’s probably because the meta back then revolved around Mercy, whereas the current OWC is based on the composition of an entire team.
I assume that’s a major factor as well! In any case, I’ll keep playing this mode for as long as I can. I don’t want to see that 5v5 mess anymore, and Blizzard really needs to fix Sombra. That assassin rework was the biggest mistake.
It’s because OWC modes are basically QP.
Even back during the actual era of GOATS (in Comp), you found teams wanting to play GOATS outside of the metal ranks and everyone else in metal ranks were playing 4-6 DPS and rarely ever playing any real team composition, let alone GOATS.
Since it’s not a Comp mode and most players that play QP are going going to be Plat or below skill level, you’re probably not going to find many games of either team running GOATS in OWC.
The mode would instantly be better if they deleted Doom from the game (mode)
The 2 best goats teams that dominated everyone else that season ran the standard goats comp every game. The teams weaker at mirroring, would sometimes try some dps, like sombra goats, or I think it was dragons that found some success as 3 dps. I think pharah and sombra were part of the 3, but I don’t recall. I don’t remember pro play goats ever being played by doom, or never with actual success for others to try it.
Doom was meta in the playoffs tho, as that was double barrier with sigma.
