While this is probably the case, do realize there are people that are going to report you for saying it. There was literally a thread where someone asked to ban “McCree” from chat.

I understand it but sadly this is the case with everything in this game. They can report you for whatever you do in the game if they don’t like you

And Andy stated that there will be no consequences if someone still calls him McCree

Nah, just the whiny minority. The rest of us might slip from time to time, but we will make an effort not to deadname cassidy.

Free speech doesn’t apply in privately owned companies. They have the right to set and regulate rules as they please as long as they don’t break the law. They’re also literally never going to ban people for using Cass’ old name. They’ve stated that quite plainly.

Honestly, people keep acting like they are being silenced if they call him McCree, and other people are acting like calling him McCree makes you a bad person. In the end very few people actually care what you call him as long as we know what you are talking about in comms.

Mhm I think you should call him whatever you want. What i don’t like is when people get passive aggressive about it and say stuff like “well his names Mccree, I don’t care” or “nope, his names not *McCree, it’s *Cassidy”.
